GLOBAL TREND OF TOURISM IN THE WORLD World Ecocomic Forum 2016 With over 104 million international arrivals in 2015 and an average growth of 8%, South-East Asia s travel and tourism industry has incredible potential to help generate growth, create jobs and enable regional development.

World Ecocomic Forum 2016 Forecasts to the year 2020 predict growth in tourism in all regions of the world, with the strongest relative growth occurring in parts of the developing world. Although Europe, the Americas, and East Asia and the Pacific will account for 80 per cent of total arrivals, and thus continue to dominate in terms of volume, International tourist arrivals to Africa are forecast to grow, on average, by 5.5 per cent per year during this period and those to South Asia by more than 6 per cent, compared with a world average of just over 4 per cent.

Sustainable tourism should thus make optimal use of environmental resources, respect host communities and ensure viable, long-term economic operations, providing benefits that are distributed fairly among all stakeholders.
