Your museum teamed with the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) to fly in and conduct tours of this historic aircraft. Thank you to all who volunteered their time to make this a financial success for the museum. We had over 80 folks attend the museum on a Monday afternoon, so between providing a full set of volunteers to man the museum and additional volunteers to assist the EAA in conducting the tours, we had a very busy day. That brings up an interesting point. We seem to have no problem providing large numbers of volunteers for special events like this, such as Warbirds, Wings and Wheels, the airshow, or Legacy to Success, but we have trouble keeping a full staff on the regular operating days. The call goes out every month from our Museum Operations Coordinator for volunteers, and the museum only gets staffed at 67-75%. We need to do better than that, or we are going to experience extreme difficulties going forward. The need is great each day we are open. We need volunteers in the gift shop, the entrance to Freedom Hall, the library, the simulator, the new Red Ball Express building and two at the Woodland Auto Display. That s seven positions each day we are open at a minimum. That works out to be 728 man hours per month just to keep the doors open. If only half of our membership actually volunteered the three hours per month I ve asked for in the past, we could fulfill this requirement with some left over. The sad fact is only about 20% of our membership is participating. We will have to do better than that. Maybe I should have asked for 6 hours per month. But the fact is that we won t be able to move forward with our expansion plans without a bigger commitment from our membership. Please, please step up and support your museum. Jerry

5 MUSEUM HAPPENINGS! On Saturday, Sept. 9th a tour group of 50 people and 30 cars from Porsche 912 Registry came to the museum and had a tour! A beautiful display of cars for our visitors! ************************************************************************************************************** On September 17th the Legacy to Success event took place at the museum. We had two ribbon cuttings to open our two new buildings. Jerry Takier, Board President, welcomed our guests and Mike Levine, PIO, shared our history and future plans. We had many volunteers taking part in this exciting event, sharing their smiles, talents and knowledge. Opening new buildings were Mr. and Mrs. Herman Pfauter The Red Ball Express and Mr. and Mrs. Dick Woodland. Pictured are the C-47 ride winners! I have included only a few of the many pictures taken at this event. To see more pictures go to http://www.ewarbirds.org/news.html. Steve Lochen was our photographer.
