ESLBO Rock Band Tour Across Canada! are stopping in to play for the night. Congratulations! Your Rock Band has just been offered a chance to record an album with CanStar Records, and will be touring across Canada next month! The only problem is that the booking agent for the tour just quit. It is your job to plan your tour across Canada, with stops planned in at least one major city in each province or territory. Along the way, you will have to answer several other questions about the area you Ready? Let s ROCK! Stop 1: Prince Edward Island You want to book a gig in the capital city of Prince Edward Island (PEI). What is the city called? Mark it with a star on the map. You want to charter a ferry to get your gear across to the nearest province. What provinces could you be going to? (2 points)
Stop 2: Nova Scotia You heard about a great place called The Rock Palace in the capital city of Nova Scotia. It sounds like your kind of place, but you need to find it first! Mark it with a star on the map, and tell us the name of the city: You want to rent a bus from Nova Scotia to a province that borders Nova Scotia on the West. Which province is that? Stop 3: At the next stop, your drummer wants to hang the provincial flag off the front of his kit for the fans, since this is his home province. Draw the Province s Flag in the box below. Mark the capital of this province with a star, so you know where you ll be trashing the hotel room for the night.
Stop 4: Quebec You want to plan to continue going west so you phone a hotel, but the manager is speaking another language! You try to ask what city you have called since there are two major cities that you were thinking of booking a gig in, but you can t understand him! What possible two cities might you have called? (2 points) Mark the capital with a star on the map, and label the river on the province. Stop 5: Newfoundland and Labrador To shake things up, you decide your next stop will be north of Quebec, in Newfoundland and Labrador. You decide to check out music shops where you can buy new strings and drum sticks, and find a sweet shop in St. John s. You decide to mark the city on the map with a star, so you can find it later. You are having a hard time distinguishing between Newfoundland and Labrador from the map. Label which one is the island, and which part is a part of mainland Canada.
Stop 6: Ontario You will have to book a flight from Newfoundland and Labrador to Ontario, where you will play some gigs in two major cities. One is the capital of the entire country! (you mentally make plans to get a Maple Leaf jacket for the finale when you play here) Mark the capital city on the map with a star, and find another major city and mark it with a circle. Stop 7: Manitoba From Ontario, you find an old friend who has a bus for you to borrow for the rest of your trip. You plan to use it to head west, where you will run into Manitoba. Your friend tells you about a restaurant in the capital city which serves the best ribs ever! Mark the capital of Manitoba on the map with a star. In doing some more research, you find out there is a lake named after the Capital City. You want to plan a pit stop to sight see and work on your tan. Draw the lake on the map with in blue.
Stop 8: Saskatchewan The stadium booking agent where you are going to be playing your next gig manages to get free tickets to a Roughriders game for you while you are in town. What city will you be in? Mark it on the map. Just to be sure you don t get booed by the crowd after cheering for the Stampeders during the game, you decide to glue a flag of the Saskatchewan flag on your guitar. Draw a picture of the Saskatchewan flag: Stop 9: Alberta Although you want to make sure to visit the capital of Alberta, you also want to make sure you play a show in another large city to make some extra cash. Mark the capital on the map with a star, and use a circle to indicate the other large city. You also want to plan a weekend off for your crew in a national park. What national parks are there which are found on the border of Alberta? (2 points) Draw them on the map in green.
Stop 10: British Columbia You are excited about seeing the mountains more, but can t stop until you reach the capital for a stadium show. Mark where the capital is on the map with a star. You have to make sure to find out if ferries can carry buses, because you also booked a gig in Victoria, a town on an island in BC. Mark Victoria on the map with a circle. Stop 11: The Yukon Territory You were surprised to find out that people even lived this far up north, but your boss asked you to book a gig in the capital of the Yukon Territory. Mark the capital on the map with a star and label it. You decide to go East from here. What Territory will you get to next if you go East?
Stop 12: Although you are more than a little concerned about running into polar bears, you decide to book a gig in this Territory s capital city. Mark it on the map with a star and label it. If you go even further east, which Territory do you run into next? LAST STOP: You mark the capital on the map with a star and label it. You re going to have to drive the van back to your friend in Ontario. Can you get from this territory to Ontario? Which province must you pass through first in order to get there?
