WORLD FORUM ON ACCESS TO LAND The city of Valencia is situated on the Mediterranean coast of the Iberian Peninsula with a population of 786.189 (National Institute of Statistics, 2015); it is Spain's third largest city with the most populated urban space in Spain. It is characterized by the typical mildness of the Mediterranean with a yearly average temperature above 17 C. During the month of March, temperatures can vary a lot within one week, but generally days are pleasant and temperatures get to around 20 21 C, with extremes between 13 C and 27 C. The nights can be cold, with temperatures around 6 C. TIMES OF THE DAY: Eating times tend to be slightly later than in the rest of Europe. Breakfast is between 7h30 and 10h00. Lunch is served between 13h00 and 15h30 and dinner from 21h00 until 22h30. In Valencia you can go shopping every day of the year, but the usual opening times of shops are Mondays to Fridays 10h00 to 20h30. LANGUAGE: There are two official languages: Valencian, the language of the Valencian Community, and the more widely used Spanish, official language of Spain. However, during the Forum a simultaneous translation service between English, French and Spanish will be provided. Should you want to use one of the translation devices, please present your ID. ARRIVAL IN VALENCIA: During the whole day of March 30 th volunteers of WFAL in recognizable T- Shirts will be at the airport of Valencia to receive you and inform you about transport and hotels or help you with any other inquiries you might have. The participants that stay in Tryp Azafata Hotel have a free service bus for the route airport-hotel. Volunteers are going to point out the exactly bus stop in the airport. REGISTRATION: The accreditation to WFAL 2016 will be given out in the hotels on March 30 th from 6 pm till 9 pm for those participants staying in the Hotels NH Las Ciencias, Hotel SH Abashiri, Hotel Trup Azafata. All other participants may obtain their accreditation on March 31 st from 8:30 am onwards in the main hall of the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Sala Central de la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (Sala PARANINFO, Building 3A), where the Forum takes place.
FOOD: On the days March 31 st, April 1 st and 2 nd lunch is included in the participation of the Forum, as well as the coffee breaks during the morning. Upon registration you will receive lunch tickets for presentation in the cafeteria. Some of the hotels offer a mini bar service in the rooms which is NOT part of the responsibility of WFAL. TRANSPORT: Transfer between the Hotels SH ABASHIRI, NH LAS CIENCIAS and TRYP AZAFATA to the University, where the Forum takes place, will be organized by the Forum. Timetables of the bus service will be communicated every day by the volunteers.
