Venue and Time The will be held at the United Nations Conference Center (UNCC) at the premises of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in from 17 to 19 February 2009. Registration will take place on Tuesday, 17 February between 9:00 to 9:30 AM at the United Nations Conference Center in Addis Ababa (UNCA-AA). The opening ceremony of the will take place promptly at 9:30 AM. 2. Travel to Addis Ababa and Allowances (i) (ii) Air Tickets. Through UNECA, UNDESA-sponsored participants will be provided with air tickets from the nearest international airport in their home country to Addis Ababa via the most economical and direct route. UNECA in Addis Ababa will contact you regarding your flight details and ticket Daily Subsistence Allowance (DSA). In addition to the air ticket, the UNECA will be authorized to provide sponsored participants with a DSA at the prevailing UN rate based on their itinerary. The DSA will cover the cost of hotel accommodation, meals, and incidental expenses. (iii) Payment of entitlements. In order to receive the allowances and any reimbursement for self tickets, etc. all sponsored participants are required to present the following documents on the second day of the meeting, 18 Februrary. Passport Ticket Boarding passes Receipts of purchase of self ticket Participants who are obliged to stay overnight at a third country due to flight connections should keep their boarding passes and hotel receipts as proof in order to receive the entitlement. Requirements for Travel It is critical that UN-sponsored participants should submit immediately the following two important documents to Ms. Dolores Tanpinco (tanpinco@un.org) and Ms. Elvira Doyle (doylee@un.org) with copies to Mr. Richard Kerby (kerby@un.org) and Mr. Deniz Susar(susar@un.org). Without these documents, UNDESA will not be able to process the authorization for the air ticket and DSA: (a) The completed and signed UN Participant Form that was sent to all participants whose travel will be sponsored by the United Nations. (b) A medical certificate issued by a duly qualified physician indicating the statement below (The medical certificate is required in connection with the group medical coverage scheme for that is provided to participants whose travel and DSA are sponsored by the UN): (Name) is in good health and fit to travel to for the Capacity Building on Electronic/Mobile Government in Africa: Progress Made and Challenges Ahead during the period of 17-19 February, 2009. 4. Hotel Reservation For convenience, we recommend that participants should stay at one of the following hotels which have been selected on the basis of their distance to the meeting place, and who have extended special UN rates to participants. Room rates (in US Dollars), are inclusive of all taxes and. Daily breakfast is included in the room rate. Please note that credit cards are not accepted at these hotels. Entry Visa Participants are responsible for obtaining their own visas. In accordance with UN rules and regulations for seminars and workshops, costs associated with visa procedures are the responsibility of the participant and/or their institutions and will not be covered by the United Nations nor reimbursed by UNDESA. Participants should contact the Ethiopian Embassy or consulate in their home country to determine whether a visa is needed for travel.
