Assistance IICA Damage assessment of agricultural sector Work with FAO on post earthquake action plan Promote rural development to support 1.5 million people to the rural sector Agreement with World Bank for funding to strengthen the Ministry of Agriculture and agricultural sector Identified 14 specific projects with the Ministries of Agriculture of Haiti and the Dominican Republic

Role IADB Strengthen direct relationship with the UN/Minustah for early information to assist with coordination and support Work with CARICOM to establish a sea bridge between Jamaica and Jacmel Provide analysis and direct technical assistance in risk mitigation strategies

Meeting with PM Haiti Support to Governance Temporary Headquarters Government of Haiti Need for experts on urban planning post earthquake Allocation of OAS resources for specific needs

Situation Analysis and Forward Planning Geological and seismic activity analysis Reconstruction plan and review of building codes Urban planning: review best practices and lessons learned from recovery/reconstruction planning from other earthquakes, e.g. in El Salvador, Guatemala, Colombia, Nicaragua, etc. Psycho-social counseling Health issues: infectious diseases, flu contagions, malaria, cholera Focus on vulnerable groups, especially in the tent camps, risk of abuse and human trafficking

Situation Analysis and Forward Planning Upcoming rain season (March/April) with risk of floods, land and mudslides Hurricane season (July-November) and the level of preparedness, especially regarding those living in tents and other temporary housing Short term job creation/cash for Work programs: cleaning up drainage channels, ditches and remove rubble from the street Food security

Next steps OAS Support to the Government of Haiti Strengthen OAS office in Haiti and the Dominican Republic Inter-American coordination Collaboration with UN on the ground Haitian Diaspora Conference Private Sector Conference on Haiti Private Sector Forum of the Americas and others

Final Comments Government and people appreciative of strong support, especially those who arrived early Brazil, Canada, Dominican Republic, USA, Venezuela and many others Joint mission seen by Haitian authorities as clear demonstration of commitment for long haul Joint visit underscored need to focus capacities, resource allocation Institutions recommitted to working together Plan to launch e-platform, with user-access for all inter-american institutions to facilitate information exchange, coordination
