Hand in Hand The City of Ottawa offers help with program fees so that all residents can take part in recreation and culture activities regardless of their ability to pay. If you are already a participant in a community or social service agency program, or if you are an individual or family with a low-income, you may qualify for the Ottawa Hand In Hand recreation and culture fee support program. To apply for the Ottawa Hand in Hand, Recreation and Culture Fee Support Program: Step 1: Get the application form at any recreation,cultural facility or at a Client Service Centre. Step 2: Complete the application form. Step 3: Bring the completed application to your local recreation, cultural facility or client service centre. A supervisor will review the application for approval

The 4 Components 1. Individual 2.Family 3. School 4. Community Program Overview October - April: Weekly sessions at clubs (6pm-8pm) and seasonal outings at camp (Fall/Winter/Spring). May - June: Special Events, group outings, volunteering and continued interaction with mentors. July - August: Attend summer session(s) at Camp Smitty - Leader in Training, Counselor in Training. Program Phases Phase 1 - Ages 13-15 Focused on personal goals and foundational skills. Work with mentor, introduction to volunteerism, earn camp session (regular camp/leader in training). Phase 2 - Ages 16-17 Expanded goal-setting, enhanced skill development. Work with mentor, increased emphasis on volunteering, camp experience (counselor in training/junior counselor). Phase 3 - Ages 18+ Post-secondary education, scholarship opportunities. Act as mentor, sustained and expanded community involvement, camp staff (senior counselor, senior staff). Camp Registration is Now Open! About Camp Otonabee Camp Otonabee provides an opportunity for children and youth to engage in outdoor activities, discover nature and enjoy the natural environment, build self-confidence and establish lasting friendships. Campers aged 4 to 16 can experience canoeing, rock climbing, kayaking, swimming, horseback-riding and more! Y Camps are for Everyone Y camps are for every child and youth in our communities. Because camp can have a profoundly positive and lasting effect on children, we are dedicated to ensuring that as many kids as possible have access to a YMCA-YWCA camp experience. We provide financial help for those who otherwise couldn't afford the experience and integrate children with special needs while giving them one-on-one support. There is also the Evelyn E Laishley Campership Fund available to support qualifying campers who need financial assistance to attend Camp Otonabee. Integration Program for Campers with Special Needs We are proud to offer supportive programs for participants with special needs and requirements. This program allows campers the opportunity to participate in camp our programs with additional counsellor support, ensuring that their experience is a positive one. Each camper will be assessed independently and assigned, with the help of the camper s family, a one to one or low ratio camper to counsellor experience. Please note that space is limited. Game Design camp is the way to experience the game design process from start to finish! Projects range from character development to programming to art creation. Juniors: for any child who has completed Grade 4-6 Seniors: for any child who has completed Grade 7-10 Connections@VV for Aboriginal Youth who have completed Grade 5-9 Discover how multimedia and technology can connect you to your community and traditions! Campers will take part in fun lessons on website design, animation, programming and other cool multimedia applications. Connections@VV is the camp to attend this summer! Engineering Camps for any child who have completed Jk grade 10 Dust off your lab coat and get on your safety goggles, because this week is full of experiments and excitement! Join us for Engineering camp, a week entirely offcomputers filled with hands-on engineering challenges, exciting demonstrations, and captivating experiments. We offer this camp for multiple grade ranges: Eng 1-2, Eng 3-4, Eng 5-6, Eng 7-8.

Carleton Summer Camps Continued... Animation Camp for any child who have completed Grade 7-10 Ever wondered how your favourite animated movie was made? Sign up for animation camp, where you will learn about the principles and techniques of animation. You will gain knowledge and understanding on how animated movies, shows, and games are made. You will then apply your knowledge to create an animation of your own using the very same techniques that professionals use. Codemakers Girls for girls who have just completed Grade 3-6 Codemakers Girls is designed to give, regardless of computer science experience, the skills to be producers of technology. Participate in the new Codemakers initiative powered by Google and Actua across Canada. Through Codemakers Girls Jr, campers will see how computer programming can make the world a better place while coding their own songs, developing their own games, and solving programs through computer programming. This camp is sure to build lifelong skills necessary for 21st century life and transform screen time into safe and productive experiences both on and offline! Trailblazers for any child who has just completed Grade 9-11 Trailblazers Leadership 2-weeks Camp will give students in grade 9 to 11 an opportunity to learn innovative engineering and technology concepts and teach them to younger campers. Involving collaborative work, students will explore topics in robotics & programming, mechanics & structures, animation & graphics, etc. The first week will be focused on engineering challenges where participants would use their knowledge acquired each day to solve problems. In the second week, participants will be paired up with university instructors to teach younger campers about technology and engineering! This will give participants the opportunity to complete their 40 hours of volunteer work while gaining life-long skills in coaching and teaching. Information for Parents and Guardians Wonder how you can get in on this wonderful opportunity? All families who wish to register their children for Christie Lake Kids Summer Camp must live in the Ottawa area, and must have an annual household income below the Ontario Low-Income cut-off. For Aboriginal youth and police, Flotilla for Friendship is a day of canoeing followed by a feast on Victoria Island. The canoe trip allows the young people and police officers to ask questions and engage in conversations in order to better understand each other. Ontario Provincial Police, Niigan Mosewak (walking forward) Camp Niigan Mosewak is a free summer camp hosted by the O.P.P. Eastern Region Provincial Liaison Team (PLT) for Aboriginal youth. It is centered around First Nation and Inuit teachings with an equal amount of time spent on team-building, healthy relationships, sports and camp activities. Ages 12-17 Location: Overnights held at Camp Lutherlyn, Golden Lake Dates: August 14-18, 2017 *limited spots available, Youth camp enrollment based on need. Dates: TBD For ages 6-13 Is there a cost? Just like all OICC programs, Day Camps are free to the community. Day camp enrollment will cover the transportation within 25km of the camp, morning Snack, lunch, and afternoon snack. Culture is always a main focus for programs, and we make a point of including it in everyday program, from syllabic bingo, Country food, to Inuksuk making, sewing.
