Email: cmgcommunications@ymail.com ROUND HILL GIFT SHOP & BOUTIQUE OPENED Montego Bay, Jamaica, December 16 2009 The Round Hill Gift Shop & Boutique is now open, introducing a new concept of shopping to Montego Bay, Jamaica. The store, located at the legendary Round Hill Hotel and Villas, is based on a Europeanstyle shopping experience, with personalized service at the heart of the concept. The opening was celebrated at a cocktail party on Wednesday (December 16) to unveil the eclectic collection of gifts and contemporary clothing lines. The concession for the resort s shop has recently been taken over by Schatzie Limited, a newly-formed company by Patrick and Katrin Casserly and their business partner, Jamaican designer Pat Wright. Katrin, who for the previous 18 years was a member of Round Hill s executive team, has used her knowledge of the international clientele s shopping expectations to create a retail experience that will also be warmly welcomed by island residents. She said: It is a great pleasure and dream come true to bring our concept of a destination shop to Round Hill, one of the most stylish resorts in the world. Prior to opening, the gift shop and boutique building was renovated by local designer Robert Casserly, creating a modern interior based on his clients vision. The shop s gift and pineapple logo section boasts everything from souvenirs to Christmas, birthday and other special occasion presents, with the majority of items handcrafted or sourced on-island. This includes Jamaican-made pottery, art and crafts by David Pinto, Margaret McGhie, Wassi Art, Harmony Hall and the Gallery of West Indian Art. There is also a lovely range of locally made bath products from Starfish Oils, Donna Patricia Aromatherapy by David Thomas, and Jamaican Spices and Herbs, complemented by a collection of handmade aromatherapy candles. A mini art gallery has been created in the shop by Wayne Gallimore of Jamagination, which features prints and original paintings. Other gift ideas include wall hangings, mugs, trays, note cards, trinket boxes, local books, Jamaican and Cuban cigars, home décor items and more.
The beautifully packaged culinary delights on offer include a selection of Busha Browne sauces and Tortuga rum cakes and sauces. A selection of condiments produced by Round Hill s kitchen, such as jerk mayonnaise, tomato tapenade, watermelon chutney and tomato chutney, will be on sale later in December. Gourmet coffee from Kew Park in Westmoreland, Jamaica, is available exclusively at the store. The boutique stocks a chic range of clothing for ladies, gentlemen and children, from beach and casual wear to resort-style evening-wear. This includes an avant-garde linen line by Meiling from Trinidad, batik cottons and silks from Kingston-based designer Mutumba, cotton dresses by Bette of Jamaica, and the very trendy June Plum line for children. The beachwear features an exclusive selection of swimwear from Canadian designer Shan as well as a range from local company Polkadot, offset by stylish silk and cotton sarongs in a variety of colours. Accessories include sandals by Bridget, feminine beach and spa footwear by Okab, and Havaiana flip-flops as well as beach bags, straw hats and cotton hats that have an inbuilt sun protection factor of SPF50. Exclusive to Round Hill are vibrantly - coloured beach towels, bags, placemats and napkins from Royal Hut. A stunning display of exquisite shell and coral jewelry by Helga Wagner of Palm Beach is also exclusively for sale. And Pat Wright of the much-loved Jamaican linen line, Wright Style, is making a comeback after five years with a new collection at the boutique. Clothing, accessories and gifts at the Round Hill Gift Shop & Boutique will be updated regularly to cater for returning resort owners and guests as well as local residents. A shopping trip to the new store is the ideal opportunity to enjoy lunch at Round Hill s restaurant run by multi award-winning chef Martin Maginley. Or a little retail therapy could be combined with a pampering at Round Hill s spa, which is located in a former plantation house overlooking the sea. Round Hill managing director Josef Forstmayr said: We are very excited to have Katrin Casserly showcasing the best of Jamaican gifts, fashion and design and we look forward to welcoming everyone to the Round Hill Gift Shop & Boutique.
