PRESS RELEASE #1 The 27 th edition of the Hyères International Festival of Fashion and Photography will take place from the 27 th until the 30 th of April, 2012, at the villa Noailles. The exhibitions held at the villa will be on display until the 27 th of May. Each year, the festival fosters and offers its support to young artists in the fields of fashion and photography through its competitions and the prizes it awards. The fashion jury, under the presiding judge Yohji Yamamoto, convened on the 22nd of January, in Paris, in order to select the ten candidates for the final competition (290 entrants, 26 nationalities, 56 shortlisted candidates). He was assisted by: Marc Ascoli, artistic director, Paris Alan Bilzerian, founder and director of the boutique Alan Bilzerian, Boston Terry Jones, founder of ID, London Pascale Mussard, artistic director for Petit h, Paris Olivier Saillard, director of the Musée Galliera, Paris Jules Wright, director of the galleries The Wapping Project and The Wapping Project Bankside, London Paolo Roversi, photographer, Paris The film director, Christophe Honoré, and the creative director, Irène Silvagni, along with other leading lights to be announced will complete the jury and assemble together for the festival, in Hyères. The jury has selected ten young designers, of nine different nationalities. Organised around these two competitions are installations and exhibitions through which the villa Noailles gathers together industry leaders as well as young talents from these two disciplines. Talks with the designers and photographers will also be organised. The photography exhibitions will be announced at a later date. Taking place in parallel with the festival are the Rencontres Internationales du Textile et de la Mode, which are reserved for the festival-goers, and will take place between the 27 th and the 30 th of April. They are organised by the Fédération Française de la Couture, du Prêt-à-Porter des Couturiers et des Créateurs de Mode (French Federation of Fashion and of Ready-to-Wear of Couturiers and Fashion Designers), and this year s themes will be announced at a later date.
