Forever Young Southaven s Senior Adult Group MAY 2018 JUNE THE GOLDEN GRAPEVINE There was a lot of excitement at the Roaring Twenties Luncheon when some gangsters showed up to rob the bank. The Southaven police came to the rescue, arrested the gangsters, and found that there were other illegal activities going on. In addition to the gangsters, the police arrested a lady of the night, a moon shiner, and several illegal gamblers. Thanks to the Southaven Police Department for showing up and restoring order. Stars in Motion entertained us with dances from the 20 s. Linda Cain won the Charleston contest. Regina Patrick and Eddie Hood won best costumes. Thanks to Winde for taking the time out of her schedule to come and take our pictures. Please stop by our reception s desk to pick up your pictures. Our Dance which followed Friday evening carried over the Roaring Twenties theme. Eve Hood won best costume that evening. Jeanne Van Copplenolle and Natalie Horowitz both put on a show for the Charleston contest. The judge couldn t decide on a winner. The party went on! Luau Luncheon - Friday, June 1 at 11:00am Our Luau Luncheon will be held in the Multi-Purpose room at Forever Young. The caterer, John Woods, is serving Hawaiian Pork Loin with all the trimmings. Silver Creek will sponsor the luncheon. Our entertainment will be Steve Hopper playing the Steele Drums, students from Stars in Motion Dance Studio will be hula dancing, and Michael Dougherty will be singing some Hawaiian songs. There will be games and great door prizes. In addition to the Best Dressed Contest, a Hula Dance Contest is planned. Winners of the contests will be awarded prizes. Seating is limited, so don t put off buying your ticket. (Cost is $10). The Luau theme will continue at the Friday night dance ($5 at the door). Prizes will be awarded to the winner of the best costume. You will not want to miss this funfilled event.

We will be playing horseshoes, ping-pong, corn hole, bingo, safe at base game, Cindy Says, putt putt, hot potato, and hula hoop. Winners of the games will receive prizes. Baptist Hospital will be here for free health assessments. North Delta Planning & Development will be here to provide helpful information for assisting our seniors. McAlister's ham or turkey sandwich, chips, a cookie, ice cream, and tea will be provided for lunch. Everyone had such a great time at the picnic last year. We will tour the Montrose House and enjoy a delicious lunch in the parlor. The tour will include the Yellow Fever Museum where we will hear the story of the epidemic of 1878, also, included in the tour is The Burton House. Its splendor, I am told, will astonish you. Our last stop will be at The Davis Home where we will walk through the beautiful butterfly gardens before departing for home. The cost of this trip is $59. Checks only; make check out to Dee Dempsey. This trip includes 16 meals, hotels, transportation, and airfare. Join us on a journey through five of Americas National Parks. Your tour begins in Arizona, where you will enjoy a stay in the world famous resort town of Scottsdale. The next day we will head out to Sedona, later that day we will arrive at Lake Powell. The next day we will embark on a breakfast cruise on scenic Lake Powell. Next on our trip, we travel through Marble Canyon before arriving at the Grand Canyon. Then on to Bruce Canyon, Utah Zion National Park which we will view as we ride along on the Zion Tram. We will then head out to Salt Lake City and next to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Then on to Grand Tetons National Park. Later we arrive at Yellowstone National Park and Cody. Then off we go to Keystone, South Dakota where we will see one of the country s most famous landmark s, Mount Rushmore. Before departing for home, we will visit the Crazy Horse Monument.
