New Civil Aviation Policy of GoI New Civil Aviation Policy released on 15.6.2016 has enumerated several progressive steps for Helicopters, Small Fix Wings and MROs viz: Regional Connectivity Scheme Free Flying Airspace for Helicopters below 5000 ft Reduced VAT and No Airport Royalty/Charges for RCS flights Declaring MRO as a separate category of Aviation Infrastructure Exemption of customs duty on aircraft tools, tool-kits and testing eqpt. Etc. Allowed import of unserviceable parts for maintenance Relaxed rules for foreign aircraft maintenance in India Easing out several customs and regulatory provisions ( Air-Traffic Growth 2016: Domestic 23%, International: 14 % )

MRO & Skill Development 1. Global MRO revenue is currently around US$61 billion and is expected to grow to US$81 billion by 2025. India s annual MRO segment is currently estimated to be at US$ 700 to $800 million only for schedule airlines out of which only less than 10% is done in India. 2. India s Helicopter fleet is around 280 and is expected to grow about 800 to 1000 helicopters by 2030. Currently, MRO services for helicopters in India is approximately US $ 77 million. There is prospective business in India ataround US $ 500 million in next 10 years.
