The Cleeve, as its name suggests, is set within the hillside in the Hawkcombe Valley and enjoys glorious views across playing fields to The Vale of Porlock. The village itself has an excellent range of convenience stores, gift shops, a library, primary school, church, several inns, playing fields with pavilion and a reputable health centre, and is famous for its picturesque weir and beach and steep hill. Minehead is found a few miles away, offering a good range of shops, sports facilities and both middle and senior schools. Exmoor is known for its heather topped beacons and wooded valleys and provides excellent walking and riding countryside. Hawkcombe Water, a stream running in a culvert from Hawkcombe Head down to the sea, borders the property to the East and the calming sound of flowing water can be heard from the front bedrooms. Taunton, the county town of Somerset, is within around 50 minutes drive and has good communications, including M5 Motorway Junction 25 and main line station with fast trains on the Great Western Service scheduled to arrive at London Paddington within around two hours. The M5 Motorway can also be joined at Bridgwater, giving fast and easy access to Bristol Airport, the Cribbs Causeway shopping mall and also connects with the M4 Motorway at Bristol, leading straight into London. To the West, interesting locations include Lynton, Lynmouth, Combe Martin, Ilfracombe, Woolacoombe etc; the South West Coastal Path is within walking distance. Minehead 5.5 miles; Taunton 30 miles; M5 Motorway (J25) 32 miles; Bristol 68 miles (distance/times approximate).
