Welcome to Bangkok! Your Experience NB: Itinerary listed below is based on Post Trop-Out travel. For Pre-TropOut travel, activities on days 1 and 2 of the itinerary will be switched Day 1- Arrive Bangkok Upon your arrival in Bangkok, our guides will greet you and transfer you to the stunning Banyan Tree Bangkok- your home for the next 2 nights. After an afternoon at leisure, at approximately 17:30 our group will depart in a convoy of Tuk Tuks (famous local transportation) under police escort (so the infamous Bangkok traffic is cleared for us!) to see Bangkok s Chinatown by night and to take a short walk through the flower market. A light dinner at the best of Bangkok s street food vendors is included- what better way to experience the local cuisine! Following dinner, our convoy will take us past the Grand Palace, City Pillar, Defence Ministry Building, the National Museum and Phra Sumen Fort, before our we head to the Silom district, Bangkok s premier gay nightlife district. At the Silom district, an exclusive area of a bar will be set aside for TropOut guests. From here, Bangkok s nightlife is yours to explore! (Silom is located a short distance from Banyan Tree Bangkok).
Day 2- Your day, your way Today is a free day for you to explore Bangkok at leisure. Please feel free to contact us so that we can plan your day, your way. Day 3- Bangkok module ends Following breakfast and checkout, our guides will transfer you to Suvarnabhumi or Don Muang Airports for your onward journey. At approximately 17:00, our group will meet at the Moon Bar, the Banyan Tree s stunning and famous rooftop bar for sunset drinks. The view and setting is simply breathtaking, and something not to be missed. Following sunset drinks, feel free to enjoy dinner at the Banyan Tree s award winning Vertigo restaurant, also located on the rooftop. CHILL IN KOH SAMUI Post TropOut: : 9-12 April 2016 (3 nights) The Island Koh Samui, affectionately known as the land of coconuts, has a fascinating natural beauty and sublime beaches, which makes it an alluring destination for travellers the world over. The peacefulness of the South-eastern and Western beaches (where our TropOut hotels are located) make the island an extremely attractive destination for the traveller who seeks a natural touch and an environment to rejuvenate. Your Experience Day 1- Phuket to Koh Samui You will be transferred from Angsana Laguna Phuket to Phuket International Airport to take your domestic flight to Koh Samui. Upon your arrival in Koh Samui, our guides will greet you and transfer you to your hotel of choice- the stunning Banyan Tree Koh Samui or Nikki Beach Hotel. The afternoon and evening is yours to enjoy at your leisure. Day 2- Lazy day cruise After breakfast in your hotel, our guides will collect you to transfer you to our awaiting Red Barron Junk (a very contemporary and comfortable traditional boat) for a day of relaxing and cruising the coastal sights of Koh Samui. During the morning our cruise will take in some of the highlights of Koh Samui, such as BIG Buddha Bay, Chaweng Bay and some of the hidden bays located in and around the island. There will be ample time for you to relax in these stunning surroundings, or to swim and snorkel around the coral reefs of Koh Tan and Koh Mudsum (snorkelling equipment provided). We will enjoy a BBQ lunch, before we leisurely cruise back to our marina via the West Coast of the island, where we will pass the sights of 5 Rocks, Pearl Bay and Taling Ngam. EXPLORE IN CHIANG MAI Post TropOut: 9-13 April 2016 (4 nights) The City Chiang Mai is northern Thailand s largest city, and is over 700 years old and is revered for its moats and majestic temples. The temple of What Phra Singh is famous for its Lunnastyle architecture, beautiful wood carvings and superb murals. Nearby is the ageless Wat Chedi Luang, which lost the top of its massive chedi to an earthquake some 400 years ago. And Doi Suthep Mountain, which looms over the city, and contains an esteemed temple at its peak, offers splendid views of the surrounding countryside. But Chiang Mai is more than just temples: elephant lovers may wish to head to Mae Taeng to meet these gracious animals, and the adventurous may wish to travel to Doi Inthanon National Park, home to Thailand s highest peak, and which provides trekking opportunities amid wonderful scenery, plummeting waterfalls and a great variety of bird life. During our stay, we will be lucky enough to experience the beginning of the Songkran Water Festival- which commemorates the Thai New Year. In Thai culture, at the turn of the newyear it is traditional to pour water as a symbol of washing away one s sins. And Chiang Mai washes away the sins of its inhabitants with gusto- expect to get wet: this is one mighty and fun mass water fight and an experience you ll never forget! Day 2- Temples and Elephants After breakfast in your hotel, our guides will collect you to lead you on a tour of Chiang Mai to introduce you to its charming culture and sights. We will first visit the 600 year-old temple of Wat Pra That Doi Suthep. The final climb to the temple is via a magnificent Naga (dragon-headed serpent) staircase of 306 steps. Inside is an intriguing copperplated chedi topped by a five-tier gold umbrella which contains partial relics of Lord Buddha. On a clear day there are incomparable views over the city of Chiang Mai. Other temples we will visit include: Wat Suan Dok, whose large central stupa contains the ashes of Chiang Mai s Royal Family; Wat Chedi Luang, where the Emerald Buddha was once enshrined; and Wat Phra Singh, which houses a very sacred 1,500 year-old Buddha image. Lunch will be served in an orchid farm, before the afternoon s program commences. A pleasant afternoon is spent in the company of elephants, these magnificent gentle giants, which are the national animal of Thailand and greatly revered. Afterwards we visit a Meo hill tribe community to casually observe a simple way of life that continues to this day. We will return to your hotel at around 18:00. It s time to wash away your sins! After breakfast our guides will collect you and transfer you to the epicentre of the Songkran Water Festival. Be prepared to get very wet.
