05 Our Actions (1/2) Open Polyclinics Mobile Units Shelters International Missions Open Policlinics operate in Athens, Perama, Thessaloniki, Patras, Chania and Kavala. Fully equipped mobile units operate in order to access people in remote regions of the country. The 1 st Night Shelter for homeless persons operates in Athens, in addition to a Shelter for vulnerable Asylum Seekers. Emergency humanitarian and medical aid is provided to vulnerable populations through international missions.

08 Open Polyclinics Services Primary Health Care Provision of medical and nursing care to vulnerable groups of the population. Psychosocial Support & Rehabilitation Provision of psychological and social support. Pharmaceutical Coverage & Essentials Provision of pharmaceutical coverage, as well as provision of essential items such as food supplies, clothing and personal hygiene items, etc. Persons belonging to vulnerable social groups face extremely poor living conditions. Doctors of the World - Greece collaborates with local bodies in order to address the growing needs arising from the increasing number of vulnerable population.

Social Services Department 12 The Department of Social Services aims to the confrontation of social problems and difficulties of individuals hosted within MdM s structures, as well as those addressing to MdM through the Open Polyclinics. Services provision of social support services, social counselling and support, as well as provision of information, in matters of education, professional training and orientation.

Social Pharmacy 15 The program Social Structures confronting poverty in Athens Municipality is implemented within the framework of the Operational Program Human Resources Development", is financed by the European Social Fund and promotes the development and operation of an expanded network of Social Structures confronting Poverty. Within this network, Doctors of the World Greece has enhanced the operation of a Social Pharmacy.
16 Social Pharmacy Data Cumulative data based on the records of the Social Pharmacy Analysis 12.777 cases received pharmaceutical coverage in 2014. The pharmacists of the Social Pharmacy provided their services to 1.999 individuals. Φωτογραφία: αρχείο ΓτΚ
Shelter for Asylum Seekers 17 In 2014: 341 individuals were accommodated. Shelter was provided to 275 men, 66 women and 3 children. The main countries of origin are Greece, Afghanistan, Iran and Syria. Photo: MdM s Photo Gallery The project is implemented by Doctors of the World Greece in collaboration with the Greek Council for Refugees. It refers to the operation of a Shelter for Asylum Seekers, with the capacity to accommodate up to 70 people. The main aim of the Shelter is to protect vulnerable populations and to enhance the provided services to Asylum Seekers in Greece. The project is implemented within the framework of the program SOAM Program Supporting Organizations that assist migrant asylum seeking population in Greece which is funded by the European Economic Area (EEA) Grants, through the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Office in Greece, which is the fund operator.
18 Night-Shelter for the Homeless The Night Shelter is located in a premise that has been granted by the Municipality of Athens (49, Alikarnasou Str., Akadimia Platonos). It operates daily with a fixed working schedule and provides night shelter to 50 homeless individuals every day. Its staff includes professionals in administration, cleaning and social services. In 2014, accommodation was provided to 341 individuals, 275 men, 66 women and 3 children, with most common countries of origin: Greece, Afghanistan, Iran and Syria.
19 Mobile Units ADAMANTIADA LITO HOMELESS SUPPORT HEALTH FOR ALL ROM SUPPORT STREETS OF ATHENS Doctors of the World operate fully equipped medical mobile units, staffed with medical doctors and auxiliary personnel of various specialties. The mobile units offer their services to persons living in remote areas throughout Greece, with limited or no access to the medical services.
ADAMANTIADA: Initiative for addressing children s primary dental care in Athens. 20 In 2014: 7.754 children received dental care. 22.281 bad teeth were diagnosed and treated 2.350 cases were in need of orthodontic treatment
Streets of Athens 21 Streets of Athens is a program aiming to the reduction of harm and the provision of primary health care and psycho-social consulting to drug users. The program, based on the principles of Harm Reduction and street intervention, has been implemented by Doctors of the World since 1988. In 2014, material was distributed to 3.747 people, whereas 611 people received medical care.
22 The Pediatric-Dental Mobile Unit LITO, which was established in 2003, aims to provide medical care to the children living in remote areas of Greece that face difficulties in accessing healthcare facilities, for either financial or social reasons. Specifically, through the program Lito, volunteer dentists and pediatricians provide free of charge pediatric and pedodontic examinations as well as pharmaceutical and immunization coverage to uninsured children. Mobile Unit LITO In 2014, 679 children were examined and 433 were vaccinated.
Supporting Homeless persons Doctors of the World Greece implement a street work project in different regions of central Athens and Piraeus, aiming to provide medical and social support to the increasing number of homeless persons. In 2014, 100 homeless were benefited, whose main countries of origin were Greece and Afghanistan. MdM s medical team took action in Central Athens, Pedion Areos and Piraeus.
Health for All 24 Doctors of the World - Greece, through the medical check-up program Health for All, provide pediatric, gynecological and ophthalmological diagnostic examinations to women and children inhabiting in various areas of the Greek mainland and islands. In 2014, 9.913 people were benefited, 19 visits were conducted in 33 different locations, while 700 children were vaccinated.
25 Supporting ROMA populations One of the main services provided through the project Supporting ROMA populations is the medical and pharmaceutical coverage of children, with special focus on the vaccination coverage, preventive care and health education. Additionally, cases that require special care are referred to the relevant services of other organizations or agencies. The program is implemented by the organization s own resources and during 2014, services were provided to 185 children.

Vaccination Coverage 27 The project Childhood Immunization is implemented mainly in MdM s Open Polyclinics in Athens, Thessaloniki, Perama, Chania and Patras, but also covers rural parts of Greece, through an adequately equipped mobile unit, offering pediatric examinations and vaccination coverage, according to the Greek National Immunization Schedule. The program is implemented by Doctors of the World - Greece with the support of the "The Hellenic Initiative». 5.507 Vaccines Beneficiaries 4.712
Dentist Coverage 28 Beneficiaries Smile Project offers both primary and secondary dental care to children, coming from families that are in a less fortunate condition and cannot afford proper dental care for their youngsters. It is foreseen that dental treatment will also be offered to adults. 2.932 Children 3.762 The program is implemented by Doctors of the World with the support of the "The Hellenic Initiative».
29 65+ Healthy Aging The project provides coverage and support to individuals over 65 years of age, by providing them with medical and psychosocial care. The 1 st basic action of the project includes the provision of medical and pharmaceutical care to the elderly. 1.704 Visits Beneficiaries 251 The 2 nd basic action of the project includes the provision of psychosocial support. The program is implemented with the support of Latsis Foundation.
Prevention Testing - Support 30 The project Public Health: Prevention Testing Support is aiming to the early diagnosis of HIV and Hepatitis C infection and the increased access to medical and psychosocial support through an outreach approach and screening in the community, especially for individuals at high risk. The project is funded by ΕΕΑ 2009-2014 (Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway), through Bodossaki Foundation, and is implemented in collaboration with the NGOs PRAKSIS, Positive Voice and Centre for Life. 10 Women Beneficiaries 25
Epidemiological Study 31 Within the framework of the program Design and Development of the Control of Viral Hepatitis B, C and HIV Infection within the general and mobile populations, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, in cooperation with the MSc program International Medicine Health Crisis Management of the Medical School of the University of Athens and the NGOs Doctors of the World and PRAKSIS, implement an epidemiological study. During 2014 (December), 11 persons were interviewed.
The project Supportive, accompanying and legal services to hate crime victims refers to the screening, recording and confrontation of these crimes in an integrated way. Beneficiaries 32 This program is an integrated system of screening, recording and confrontation of all racist crimes, under the auspices of the Incidents of Racist Violence Recording Network. It operates in collaboration with NCHR, NCR, Day Centre Babel, Greek Forum for the Refugees, METAaction and Colour Youth, and is funded by EEA 2009-2014, through Bodossaki Foundation. 15 Men 18
33 First Reception Centre in Mytilene Screening Centre, Moria, Lesvos Mobile Unit B Greece, due to its unique geographical location, constitutes the main destination for thousands of refugees and migrants. Locations, such as Mytilene, Chios, Samos, Leros, Evros, amongst others, are the most common entry points in our country. The insufficient structures are unable to cover the needs of these vulnerable populations. Doctors of the World Greece provide medical & pharmaceutical care, psychosocial support and humanitarian aid items. The project is co-funded by the European Commission and the External Borders Fund. Chios Entry Point 34 Doctors of the World - Greece is present at the Screening center in Mersinidi, Chios, where primary healthcare is provided to undocumented immigrants and third country nationals that may be in need of international protection. The services provided by MdM include medical screening, primary healthcare, provision medicines and medical consumables and finally distribution of clothing items and footwear. 2.144 Men Beneficiaries 2.445 The program is funded by the organization s own resources.
35 Food Package Distribution Beneficiaries accept, in a monthly basis, a family package containing legumes, pasta, rice, milk, olive oil, and canned food. Quantities depend on the number of members of each family. Additionally, families receive footwear, clothing and personal hygiene items, according to their needs.
36 International Humanitarian Aid Mission Uganda Doctors of the World - Greece has been present in Uganda (Luweero region, Monde village) since 2009, with a project of primary healthcare. The basic aim of this mission is the support of the healthcare facility that is located in Monde, aiming to enhance the overall provision of medical healthcare services. Within the framework of this mission, volunteer doctors travel to Uganda at regular intervals and realize specialized medical tests as well as trainings to the personnel of the clinic. It is worth mentioning that over 50% of the total number of beneficiaries are children under the age of 14.
37 Emergency Humanitarian Aid Missions During 2014, Doctors of the World - Greece delivered aid in the following crises: January: Kefalonia Island supporting earthquake victims May June: Serbia & Bosnia supporting populations affected by the floods. October December: Turkish Syrian boarders supporting Kurdish refugees that have fled from Kobane.
