JOB POSTING NOTICE Camp Smitty Summer Jobs Camp Smitty, proudly operated by the, offers a beautiful lakefront setting, fantastic staff team, and dynamic programs for campers 8-16 years old. We are located 90 minutes outside of Ottawa near Eganville, ON, on Mink Lake. Since 1924, the camp has built a reputation as a highly respected program; something the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa is very proud of. We have provided exceptional camp experiences for hundreds of young people each summer. Our staff team always sets up apart... a really impressive group of dedicated people who genuinely care. They create a safe and fun environment offering parents peace of mind, and allowing kids to have the time of their life. The 2018 Camp season is quickly approaching. There are 4 camp sessions and Pre-Camp / Post- Camp: Senior Staff Training: June 20-22 Pre Camp: June 25-29 Session 1: July 2-12 Session 2: July 16-26 Session 3: July 30 - August 9 Session 4: July 30 - August 9 Post Camp: August 23-25 Selected staff must be available for all sessions including pre and post camp. This is an overnight camp for campers and staff. Room and board are provided to the staff. Transportation to and from Camp and Ottawa is provided to the staff.
OPEN POSITIONS JUNIOR CAMP COUNSELOR Working closely with the and Program Coordinator, the Junior Counselor will play a leadership role in assisting in the development of exceptional camper experiences, program offerings with measurable outcomes, and strong role modelling relationships. Provide positive leadership and be a role model for children Assist in the development and promotion of program schedules Responsible to support and actively participate in camp activities Provide direct delivery for specific programs Develop professional engaging relationships with all campers Complete inventory of program material and provide manager with list of materials needed during pre-camp and at the end of each session Ensure Program area is maintained and cleaned on a regular basis Performs other related duties as required. Provide positive leadership and be a role model for children Following the BGCO policies and procedures Assist in the development and promotion of individual camper schedule based on camper needs Support and actively participate in all camp activities Provide direct delivery for specific programs Minimum of 2 years experience in a developmental child and youth-related field, including direct leadership and program administration Demonstrated Leadership skills Experience working with children with special needs Demonstrate confidence in leading activities for campers with special needs

Demonstrated confidence in decision making and excellent communication skills Previous Overnight camp counselor experience an asset Swimming Certification, canoeing, coaching and instructional experience are all assets SOUS CHEF The Sous Chef is responsible for the day to day supervision and operation of all food services, including but not limited to; food ordering and preparation, development of a healthy menu, inventory monitoring and reporting and supervising kitchen staff. Assist in kitchen supervision Assist with kitchen staff training Assist in the preparation of a well-balanced meal menu for each camp session Ensure proper storage of all foods and catering equipment. Assist in maintaining the facility inventory. Assist in placing food orders. Maintain a clean, sanitary and well organized kitchen. Maintain a safe work environment. Foster a positive and supportive atmosphere within the kitchen. Professionally attend to all assignments and supervisory duties. Ensure that spoiled bedding has been washed and dried to be returned to campers and staff Provide Campers and staff with sleeping bags if needed Ensure that all kitchen clothes are cleaned daily Perform any tasks beyond those assigned as needed Minimum 2 years experience in food preparation Demonstrated ability to prepare nutritious meals for large groups up to 150 people Current Certifications in emergency first aid/cpr At least 1 year of experience working in an industrial kitchen At least 2 years of experience working in food preparation Experience in a supervisory role Safe Food Handling Certification or equivalent Excellent communication skills Commitment to the Camp Program WHMIS training is an asset
PREP COOK Working closely with the and Kitchen Supervisor, the Prep Cook will play a leadership role in assisting in the development of exceptional food menu and camper experiences with measurable outcomes, and strong role modelling relationships to campers and co-workers. Assist in preparing a well-balanced menu of meals for all camp sessions. Ensure proper storage of all foods and catering equipment Assist in maintaining a safe and clean kitchen. Assist with inventory. Report any issues with equipment to the Kitchen Supervisor. Assist in maintaining a clean, sanitary and well organized kitchen. Maintain a safe work environment. Contribute to a positive and supportive atmosphere within the kitchen Current Emergency First Aid/CPR Certificate Minimum one year of experience in food preparation/catering for up to 150 people. Completed safe food handling course. Strong team player and demonstrated ability to work well with others. Possess a strong work ethic and high energy level. Possess enthusiasm, energy, patience, and sense of humor. Well organized with excellent multi-tasking and communications skills. Excellent time management skills. Excellent communication skills. KITCHEN HAND Working closely with the and Kitchen Supervisor, the Kitchen Hand will assist in the daily meals of the campers and ensure that the kitchen is maintained safely. Assist in preparing a well-balanced menu of meals for all campers Ensure proper storage of all foods and catering equipment Assist in maintaining a clean and safe kitchen Possess a strong work ethic Well organized with excellent multi-tasking an communication skills Good time-management skills Valid Emergency First Aid/CPR Certificate is an asset
