A single congress for all key players in pavement preservation
More than ever, in this period of economic uncertainty and low infrastructure investment, it is important to acknowledge the essential contribution of roads to the socio-economic welfare of our society and to ensure that sufficient resources are dedicated to the improvement and the maintenance of the current road infrastructure. While road owners have the responsibility to define, propose and implement action plans for the maintenance of the road infrastructure, the road industry is developing sustainable solutions, for the full benefit of the road users and, more broadly, for the community. Academics support such movement, using their specific scientific skills. Pavement preservation solutions using asphalt (bitumen) emulsions and recycling techniques fully meet the community expectations, and have more and more to offer.
The Pavement & Recycling Alliance (AEMA, ARRA,ISSA),the International Bitumen Emulsion Federation and FP2(for Pavement Preservation) have decided to join their efforts and means for gathering stakeholders and experts in a forum aiming at disseminating the best practices worldwide and promoting their specific knowledge. The forum, the Pavement Preservation and Recycling (World) Summit, will be held for the first time in February 2015 in Paris (Palais des Congrès). As a 3 day event, it will include conferences, specific workshops, an exhibition and technical visits. We are fully convinced of the success of this event. In this respect, we have appointed a steering committee composed of Etienne Le Bouteiller (Executive Director of the IBEF), Mike Krissoff (Executive Director of the AEMA, ARRA and ISSA) and Jim Moulthrop (Executive Director of FP2) in charge of the organization of the summit, together with worldwide experts and professionals.
Meet players and experts who share a common goal: preserving road assets. The focus is both economic and societal in scope. Today, preserving road assets is of front-running interest in every country around the world. Define road network management policy while measuring the medium to long-term economic and societal impact of maintenance and upgrade strategy for existing networks. Benefit from a discussion forum focused on innovation: techniques, management systems, contracts, etc. The cross-disciplinary approach will help identify the best ways to preserve road assets against a backdrop of budget restraints.
Interact with customers and underline expertise and know-how. Assess what is truly at stake to help guide future development. Highlight capacity to innovate and anticipate. Inform convention-goers about recent progress and how this contributes to technical innovation and reliability. Meet new people. Improve awareness of the important role played by roads and the professionals who are involved in the field Share their viewpoints and expectations in terms of mobility and accessibility
