Merritt Academy Summer Camp as we journey through time, your camper will enjoy Weekly field trips Daily on campus swimming on a 7 acre campus Fun daily activities chosen by your child camper Groups are based on 2018-2019grade level Cub Camp: Rising 1st-2nd Grade Bengal Camp: Rising 3rd-5th Grade Siberian Camp: Rising 6th-8th Grade CIT/Junior Counselor program : Rising 8th-10th Grade In order to participate in our Summer Camp Program, CUB CAMPERS must have completed Kindergarten, BENGAL CAMPERS must have completed 2 nd grade, and SIBERI- AN CAMPERS must have completed 5 th grade.
camp day: Campers enjoy a wide variety of fun activities throughout the camp day. Sports are played in our gymnasium, on our fields, playgrounds, and sport court. Campers swim in our outdoor, in-ground pool and are supervised by certified lifeguards. Campers enjoy Tiger Times on a regular basis. Tiger Times include art, sports and computer time. Students may choose which activity they would like to participate in daily. Special events include shows, scavenger hunts, a campus carnival, moon bounces, talent show and weekly Friday Parties. Campers also participate in exciting weekly field trips. Field trips may last longer than camp hours. The majority of field trips will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays. camp hours: The Merritt Academy Summer Camp hours are 9:00AM-3:30PM, Monday Friday. Before-camp care is provided at no extra charge and parents may bring campers as early as 6:30AM. After-camp care runs from 3:30-6:30PM and is available for an additional $95 per week. Afternoon activities (apart from after-camp care), such as swim lessons are available at an additional fee. More information and registration for afternoon activities will be available in May. Merritt Summer Camp will be closed on July 4th. transportation: Bus transportation is available for an additional fee for campers living within the bus route. Additional information and registration for busing becomes available in May. the camper file: The camper file must be complete prior to the first day of camp. Enrollment will not be valid until all documents have been received. A complete file includes the following documents that Virginian Department of Social Services - requires: A signed Parent Handbook agreement form. A Commonwealth of Virginia School Entrance Health form completed by the camper s primary physician. Official Proof of Identity such as a copy of your child s birth certificate or passport

counselor in training ( CIT) /Junior Counselor Program CIT Level 1 Students completing 7th grade CIT Level 2-Students completing 8th grade CIT Level 3-Students completing 9th grade and Above Junior Counselors- Students completing 10th grade and at least 1 year of CIT The CIT/Junior Counselor program offers special leadership training opportunities specifically geared towards middle school students. CIT s will serve as mentors to younger campers and will have opportunities to plan and participate in service projects throughout the summer. Each level comes with different responsibilities and expectations. CIT s will spend time learning why we have the rules we do and how summer camp is set up. They will plan parties and events, plus help with field trips. Students completing 10th grade, may apply to become Junior Counselors. They will provide hands-on support to Merritt Camp Counselors, gaining valuable real-world experience. Junior Counselors are hired for the full summer. Due to the nature of Merritt s CIT\Junior Counselor program, students may include completion of this program as an internship or volunteer experience when applying to college, future jobs or National Honor Society. All applications are online and must be completed by April 1. There is a required orientation for CIT/Junior Counselor on Wednesday, May 30 at 5:00 PM.
Tuition: Tuition hours from 6:30 AM 3:30 PM, includes a light breakfast (served 6:30 7:45AM), lunch (except on some field trip days), afternoon snack, materials and supplies, and transportation and entrance fees for field trips. Our specialist will assess your child on Monday then schedule two 30 minute sessions between all the trips and activities of the week. CAP! is an additional $75 per week per camper.
Online Registration Information Please log-on to Merritt Academy s website (www.merrittacademy.org) and click on the Summer Camp link in order to register. Your registration for Summer Camp is on a week-by-week, first come, first served basis. In order for your registration to be accepted, all fields of the online registration form must be complete and a non-refundable $75 per child registration fee must be paid. The registration fee may be paid via credit card or e-check. The balance of all camp fees is due June 1, 2018. If payment is not completed by that time, students will be dropped from camp rosters. Balance payments may be made online or by check made payable to Merritt Academy. Parents may access their online profile at any time to make payments, access camp information or register their child for additional weeks. To make changes: If you need to make changes to your camper s schedule, such as switch weeks, you need to submit your request in writing to camp@merrittacademy.org. After June 1, 2018, any changes to a camper s schedule will be accepted on a space available basis and will be assessed a $45 change fee. To cancel: If you need to cancel your camper s enrollment for a specific week, please inform the Camp Director of your intentions at camp@merrittacademy.org. All cancellations received before June 1, 2018, will be eligible for 100% refund of the weekly fees except for the $75 registration fee that is non-refundable. Cancellations received on or after June 1, 2018 will be eligible for 50% of the weekly fees (including aftercare and activity fees) if written communication is received a minimum of 7 days before the start of the week you are cancelling. If you submit your cancellation notification less than 7 days prior to the start of the week you are cancelling, you will not be eligible for a refund. Refunds are not provided if your child becomes sick and is unable to attend camp. Refunds will be processed in September 2018.
