We are trying to generate interest in a bus trip check details below. It is appreciated that winter-like conditions are fast approaching, but it we want speakers to make the effort to give us a talk on differing orchid subjects, we need members to make the effort to attend meetings. Our Mother s Day Show at the Big Top is in the planning. All members are encouraged to visit the area around the stage, which is where we will set up our display. There will also be an area for sales. Parking may be an issue, but this will be discussed at the next meeting, once we have seen the area and have ideas. Set up time will be on the Wednesday at 5pm. Take down will be on the Friday night at 9pm. Members will need to volunteer and help with sales, and chat with the Public. Peter will no doubt man the raffle table. That man loves to outdo himself every year! Good work!! 2

ORCHIDACEOUS SUPPLIES Regulars to the Coast s orchid Shows know of Orchidaceous Supplies. Owned and run by Margaret and Grahame Muller, they have everything necessary and not so necessary for the improved growing of our orchids. Whatever it is you need, or want, they will either have it, or can offer suggestions on how to obtain it. Between them, they have years of experience. I had to pleasure of a chat with our lovely suppliers to find out a little more about them. Margaret, tell us a little of the history of your Company. We started out as Orchidaceous Books, selling orchid books in Dec. 1999 and moved to orchid supplies in Sept. 2006. We were, along with a number of others - distributors for Easy Orchids. As the business grew and our range increased we realised there was an opening in the market for supplies at orchid Shows and so we branched out into our own business. What supplies do you provide? Short answer- too much, if you look at how much we carry and set up at each Show. No, seriously though, we stock a wide range of items. Pine Bark, charcoal, perlite, a huge range of pots in different sizes and shapes, labels, pens and pencils to write on those labels, tools, hangers, clips serious and novelty, trays, bamboo, Portugal Cork and fertilizers and more. We are the proud Australian importer and distributor of Kiwi Orchid Bark. We do not carry fungicides and insecticides as the range is enormous and they can have a fairly short shelf life - best bought fresh from nurseries. Where can we find you? At most Shows. If there are two Shows on at the same time, I will do one Show and Grahame will do the other. If you miss the Shows and need an item, we have a website www.orchidaceoussupplies.com.au for online orders, or email us at supplies@orchidaceoussupplies.com.au and we can have an item ready waiting at the Show, or can give it to someone you authorise to collect on your behalf. Our phone numbers are 07 4122 1251 or 0408 076 511. We are happy to take orders in whichever way is easiest for you. In all the time you ve been doing this, I am guessing you have the odd funny moment? Funny? Maybe not. Getting to the Show venue and unpacked, only to find we ve left the credit card machine behind on one occasion and the cash tin on another. Hate to admit it, but that has happened. Strange question, but are you into orchids yourself? Yes, I love native orchids. I have been persuaded to grow some other types, but my heart belongs with natives. Thanks for your time, Margaret. Great chatting with you. Look forward to seeing you at future shows. As you can see, this is definitely the place to buy your supplies. Remember, Members, if we support Margaret and Grahame, they will support us. Look for them at the Shows and say hello 5

. INTEREST IN BUS TRIP We are in the process of organising a bus trip. Please keep Sunday 21st June free as we are hoping to arrange a trip to Robertsons, Trost s, and Frizzo s all great orchid stockists. The cost if we get 17 people, will be $15 per head. We will be stopping at Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve at Maleny. There is a kiosk with delectable nibbles or you can pack a picnic and bring it with you. More details will be available at the next meeting for anyone interested who wants to join in on the fun.
