LLC Governmental Affairs Committee Meeting SpinOut Guest Laundries Inc March Board Meeting Belfor Property Restoration Hospitality News: New $3.3B vacation village coming soon near Disney Orlando Business Journal - The Buzz An "ambitious" 87-acre luxury mixed-use vacation village is in the works near Walt Disney World featuring five gleaming towers, shops, restaurants and resort amenities. Orlando-based Magic Development LLC will start work on infrastructure in July on the first phase of its massive development called Magic Place, which will involve a 25-story, 251-unit resort tower, along with 40,000 square feet of retail space and a 20,000-square-foot office building on U.S. Highway 192 east of State Road 417. That's the first piece of the overall development that at buildout will include 250,000 square feet of retail and a total of 1,850 units that will be a mix of residential, condo and fractional units as well as nightly rental hotel rooms, which will have about $1.7 billion in construction value, said project manager James Mincy. The project was designed by Italian designer Pininfarina, the same company best known for designing the Ferarri. "We've been working behind the scenes for the last year and a half on this project and now, we're ready to rock 'n' roll on all the infrastructure in July," said Mincy, who first joined forces with Magic Development founders and co-owners Rodrigo Cunha and Luis Claudio Sinelli in 2009 to build a vacation home community in Kissimmee. "This really is SECURITY CONGRATULATIONS CARLTON HUDSON! The CFHLA Security & Safety Council's Active Assailant Seminar occurred on Tuesday. This important seminar was presented by Sergeant William Bartlett, Homeland Security/Emergency Management Section/ Hostage Negotiation Team of the Orange County Sheriff's Office and was well received by nearly 40 attendees. The council wishes to thank Nancy Freeman and Spaulding Decon for serving as the sponsor of this important activity. 6

going to cater to the luxury market. And it's ambitious. We'll build about one building every four or five years, so it's a 20- to 25-year project." Magic Place is the third piece of Magic Development's new vacation village on Black Lake Road south of Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park. Cunha and Sinelli first met Mincy years ago and decided to build vacation homes and operate them like a resort, Mincy told Orlando Business Journal. The first project was what the group now calls Magic Village 1, a 180-unit short-term rental townhome development which is nearly 60 percent completed and on pace to sell out by year's end, Mincy said. Then, the group started infrastructure work earlier this year on Magic Village 2, which is another 194 short-term rental townhome units and a 68-unit fractional condo building called The Reserve. Both Magic Village projects are built on a resort-like property, which includes a clubhouse, pools, a restaurant and more. Meanwhile, Magic Development plans to moves its headquarters from the Chase Plaza building in downtown Orlando to the office building in Magic Place once it's completed. That building also will serve as a sales and preview center for the project, Mincy told OBJ. Together, all three projects will likely have a buildout value of about $3.3 billion. Legoland Florida-area retail development may have hotel potential Orlando Business Journal - The Buzz Richard Bilbao Got an idea for a business near one of Central Florida's theme parks? Well, good news because there's a new mixeduse development sprouting up near Legoland Florida. Lt. William Bartlett of the Orange County Sheriff's Office, CFHLA Security & Safety Council Chairman Loren Poor of the Hilton Orlando, and Nancy Freeman of Spaulding Decon GROUNDBREAKING CFHLA recently participated in the celebratory Groundbreaking for the Residence Inn by Marriott Universal Studios! This 196 room property is slated to open in 2017, and is the result of a partnership between Southeastern Development Associates and LBA Hospitality. A 52-acre, 288,000-square-foot retail development, dubbed Shoppes of Cypress Landing, is on the market and just under 4 miles east of Legoland Florida on the southwest 7

corner of Cypress Gardens Boulevard and U.S. Highway 27. The project, which did not disclose its construction timeline, will feature "a number of anchor tenants, exciting smaller retail concepts and popular eating destinations. It also has room for a hotel, as well as entertainment and office uses," said marketing materials from Retail Solutions Advisors. Maps provided with the project brochures show there are five major spaces in play, ranging from 24,000 square feet to 136,455 square feet in size. In addition, there are three future outparcels that run along Cypress Gardens Boulevard and U.S. Highway 27. The property is being marketed by Retail Solutions Advisors' Lynda Nagy. In terms of tourism impact, the project could have potential if a hotel is built there that partners with Legoland Florida. The theme park already has its own on-site hotel and plans to build more accommodations, but a property there could still fit into the theme parks marketing plans. Legoland Florida General Manager Adrian Jones earlier this month stressed the need to keep up with supplying new lodging options as the Legoland Hotel, which opened last May, hits 90 percent occupancy on a steady basis during the summer. CONGRATULATIONS RESIDENCE INN BY MARRIOTT UNIVERSAL STUDIOS! SPONSORSHIPS "The Legoland Hotel increased the amount of latent demand. When people can't get in, they go on to the nearby hotels - that is one of the reasons we need to move on this now because the latent demand is there," he said. That means there will always be a need to expand the lodging amenities in and around the theme park that could be a prime business opportunity for Legoland Florida and third-party investors looking to find a way to grow into the Central Florida market, but not compete directly in the Orlando market. Legoland Florida, which has been steadily growing its appeal to younger demographics, is still in its early stages of growth. The theme park continues to invest in new attractions, lodging and 8

amenities that should help to build its appeal to the 62 million tourists that come to Orlando each year. Meanwhile, the Winter Haven theme park announced five new attractions on March 15 that included two new ride attractions, a new water attraction, a nighttime event and show, and a new vacation rental property. UCF creates 3 new degrees to meet local workforce demand Orlando Business Journal - The Buzz Rachel Williams Two new master's degrees and one new bachelor's degree are coming to the University of Central Florida to help meet the local workforce demand. They include a master of science in biomedical engineering, a master of science in data analytics and a bachelor of science in entertainment management. UCF's board of trustees approved the creation of the three new degrees at a March 24 meeting. Here's a breakdown of each new degree: Biomedical engineering: This will teach students about the development of new technologies in health care, ranging from managing patient information, to improving diagnostic equipment, to designing therapeutic solutions that treat diseases and injuries. An aging U.S. population and a growing demand for more sophisticated medical equipment and procedures are driving the demand for workers in this field. Biomedical engineering is the fastestgrowing engineering discipline in the country, with a 25 percent increase in employment in the past four years, and a projected employment growth of 27 percent through 2022, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Florida has an estimated 800 employees in this field earning an average of $77,000, annually, as of May 2013. Classes will begin this fall. ENGINEER On Wednesday, the Council hosted a breakfast featuring "Green Lodging Updates" presented by Sheena Chin-Green Coordinator of the Florida Green Lodging Program. Additionally, this breakfast featured 6 CFHLA vendor table tops and presentations from the following CFHLA Allied Members: 9

Data analytics: Students will learn how to use various statistical techniques and algorithms to gain insights from large amounts of data - something that governments and businesses have an increasing need for. People with the technical skills to convert big data into knowledge can help fill the "critical gap" in the areas of computer and information technology, according to a 2013 report from the Commission on Higher Education Access and Educational Attainment. Classes will begin this fall. Entertainment management: Students will be prepared for managerial positions within the entertainment industry through this degree. It will be housed at the Rosen College of Hospitality Management, and will teach students how develop resources, attract audiences, communication skills and other leadership values pertinent to the local travel and hospitality industry. Five new faculty jobs also will be created due to this degree. Classes begin this summer. Allied Group USA, Inc. Comprehensive Energy Services Southeastern Laundry Equipment Sunshine Recycling Symbiont Service Corp Thermal Tech, Inc. The Council wishes to thank the DoubleTree by Hilton at SeaWorld for hosting this important activity, and PSAV - Presentation Services for their audio visual support. In addition to the workforce benefits, these new degrees will help attract students to the Central Florida campuses, boost revenues for the university, and create a higher demand for local goods and services, among other things.
