Thursday, April 26 9 am Discussion with Dr. Marcelino Feal, a Professor of General Surgery at the University Hospital Calixto García. Dr. Feal will provide an overview of the Cuban health care system, followed by a discussion. 10:30 am Community Health tour of Old Havana with Barrio Habana, a nonprofit organization that leads a community sports, health and art initiative for citizens of all ages. Visit to local pharmacy and nursing home and discussion with locals about community health programs. 12 pm Lunch Reservation at La Makina Gastro Bar, located near the Museum of the Revolution and the Museum of Fine Arts in the heart of Old Havana, it is known for the exquisite cuisine dishes and a charming ambiance. 10:30 Walking tour of Old Havana s Historic Center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1982. Wander through the Plaza de Armas, a scenic tree-lined plaza formerly at the center of influence in Cuba. It is surrounded by many of the most historic structures in Havana as well as important monuments. See the Plaza de San Francisco, a cobbled plaza surrounded by buildings dating from the 18th century, dominated by the baroque Iglesia and Convento de San Francisco dating from 1719. Visit the Plaza Vieja, surrounded by sumptuous houses of the Havana aristocracy from the 18 th and 19 th centuries. Visit Plaza de la Catedral de San Cristóbal de La Habana. 12:30 pm Lunch reservation at Doña Eutimia paladar. Famous for its ropa vieja and frozen mojitos, this cozy paladar made Newsweek Magazine s top 100 restaurants in the world in 2012. Cuba Salud Conference is sponsored by prestigious national and international organizations, and has among its purposes to debate on health in the world, therefore, it will be a space for reflection, committed and oriented to the discussion of the most relevant issues, linked to the international agenda on health. This important scientific forum will promote the exchange on the current and future challenges of Public Health globally, with emphasis on the response that countries must give to the needs facing the world today, on issues such as safety and quality of medical care, emerging and emerging diseases, efficient and sustainable health systems, international cooperation in health, medical education, universal access and universal health coverage, among others. Likewise, the current public policies, strategies, organization and economic bases that sustain the health activity will be discussed, as well as the evaluation of the new processes for the renewal of primary care and its implications for health services. The event will be a propitious moment to reaffirm the need to consider the improvement of the population health, as a determinant of social development.
