November 16-22, 2008 Tumacácori National Historical Park, Arizona and Pitiquito, Sonora TICRAT AZ/SON is a bi national, hands on workshop focusing on techniques and strategies for conservation and restorations of buildings constructed of adobe and lime plaster during the Mission Period in Arizona and Sonora. Specialists in the areas of traditional earthen building skills, preservation and conservation from the United States and Mexico will present sessions on adobe and adobe coatings, documentation, conservation, restoration and preservation, Examples will be offered to participants through presentation of case studies. The sessions will be followed in the field by hands on restoration activities at Tumacácori, AZ and Pitiquito, MX. Similarities and differences between types of earthen building in the two countries will be discussed. The workshop is open to students, community stake holders, preservationists, and building professionals to ensure the appropriate restoration, maintenance and stewardship of the integrated cultural heritage of Arizona and Sonora for current and future generations. TICRAT AZ/SON is a project of the Missions Initiative co-sponsored by the National Parks Service (NPS) and the Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia (INAH), with assistance from Preservation Studies College of Architecture- University of Arizona, and Cornerstones Community Partnerships.

Secure international travel documentation (NPS travel authorization, passport). An active US passport is required for all US citizens for re-entry into the United States. 2. Fill out the TICRAT Registration Form and fax to 520-621-8700 ATTN: Cynthia Lindquist as soon as possible; space is limited. Registration fees include food, ground transportation and workshop materials; registrants are responsible for travel costs to and from Tucson Arizona and American hotel costs. A confirmation of receipt of your registration and further information will be sent to you via email. 3. Secure hotel reservations at El Esplendor Resort, Rio Rico AZ for Nov. 16-18 and Nov. 21 (4 nights total). Single occupancy, $70/night; Double occupancy $100/night not including applicable taxes. This special rate is only valid until October 17, 2008. You are responsible for making your own American hotel reservations and payment; the Mexican hotel reservations have been made as a group and costs are included below. 4.
