THINGS TO KNOW Two Locations Camp Wantago is held at the F.M. Kirby Children s Center at 54 East Street in Madison. KidsQuest, SummerQuest and Leader in Training camps are held at the Madison Area YMCA s Family Center at 111 Kings Road in Madison. Camp SummerQuest, a teen travel camp, is off-site daily. The Best Staff The safety and care of your child is at the forefront of our minds as we carefully select our camp staff. Many of our camp counselors have grown up at the Y, so they know the program, traditions and values that our camps offer. At the Madison Area YMCA, our camp staff attends 40 hours of training and must successfully complete a rigorous background check and interview process. Training includes CPR, First Aid, AED, bullying prevention, child abuse prevention and bus safety. To supplement our highly-trained aquatics staff, many camp counselors are also American Red Cross certified lifeguards. Our counselors are dedicated to making this summer the best ever! Field Trips Each camp at the Madison Area YMCA will go on a variety of field trips throughout the course of the summer. Examples include Liberty Science Center, Funplex and the Turtleback Zoo. For camp weeks that include a field trip, the registration fee cannot be prorated if a camper chooses not to participate in the field trip. Registration Process New online registration! Registration for all Madison Area YMCA day camps is now available online! Visit our website to register: www.madisonareaymca.org/camp. In-person registration is available at the Family Center and F.M. Kirby Children s Center. If registering in person, please complete one form per child. See page 14 for the registration form. The Y is the nation s leading nonprofit committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. At the Madison Area YMCA, we nurture the potential of every youth and teen, improve the community s health and wellbeing, and provide opportunities to give back and support neighbors. We believe everyone, regardless of age, income or background, should have the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. CAMP FOR ONE, CAMP FOR ALL! @ The Madison Area YMCA The Madison Area YMCA can only provide this help through generous donations and special events such as our Annual Charity Golf Classic. This event, held in June each year, helps to make our financial assistance program a reality offering assistance to everyone in need. For more information on the Charity Golf Classic and other ways to give, please visit: www.madisonareaymca.org/giving. The Madison Area YMCA is a 501(c)(3) cause-driven charitable organization, committed to providing help to families who may not be able to afford the full price of camp. At the Y, we believe that every child should be able to enjoy the best summer camp experience possible. Financial assistance is available to families who qualify. However, spaces are limited. To be considered, families must submit required paperwork before completing camp registration. Assistance is available to anyone who resides or works within the Madison Area YMCA s service area that can provide proof of financial need whether it is due to low income, recent unemployment or downsizing, disability, divorce, etc. Special circumstances and expenses may also be taken into consideration when determining an award. We ask that everyone pay a percentage of the total cost. Applicants who live outside our service area must first apply for camp assistance at the YMCA that serves their area. If denied, then the Madison Area YMCA will consider your application. (Proof of prior denial is required.) Families interested in Camp Wantago should apply for financial assistance directly at the F.M. Kirby Children s Center. Families who are interested in Camp KidsQuest, Camp SummerQuest or L.I.T. should apply for financial assistance at the Family Center. 13
