Perhaps the most notable was the mound on the Reading Room site. This was an accumulation of fly tipping. Thanks to all who helped out. Afterwards we had a happy little group gathering by the bar in the Maragert Preston Room for nibbles, refreshments and a chat. Don't forget that you can hire the Hall, the bar and its various facilities. The rates are very reasonable, whether by the hour or by the day. Catering can be arranged if needed. Lots more information is available on the Village Website, including pictures of some events held in the Hall. Lastly, I hear that some are foregoing the delights of sitting down with a beer and friends to complement their chips on a 2nd Friday. Please do venture in to The Witch & Wren bar as it is open to all parishioners and their friends we're not a club and you are welcome to drop in whenever we are open. Wreningham Parish Council Clerk: Anne Rayner 01508 570700 / clerk.wpc@gmail.com The defibrillator outside the Village Hall has been operational for a few weeks now. We believe it is important that as many as possible understand how to use it, so we are arranging two training sessions for the whole community. Let the clerk know which you would like to attend. Held in the Village Hall, each session lasts 2 hours and is led by an experienced trainer from the Community Heartbeat Trust: Thursday, 15thJune, 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm Saturday, 17th June, 10 am to noon. The Councillors, Parish Clerk and Josh Moon turned out to clean the equipment on the playing field pictures are on the website. Parents have already expressed their delight at the work done so far. After the inspector has been to check our work, we will take their lead on tackling the rest of the equipment. We will be very pleased to welcome more volunteers, so watch out for the announcement on the next working group. We now have some 13,000 Community Infrastructure Levy money in the bank. This is to be spent for the benefit of our community please send your ideas to the Clerk, for the Parish Council to consider. The Annual Parish Meeting heard reports from several in the village and these will be posted on the website copies are also available from the Clerk. The Parish Council Meeting re elected me as Chair and Paolo Dalmazzo as vice chair. Draft minutes will be posted on the website. Our next meeting is on 11th July we will be pleased to see you. Wreningham All Saints Church Although Reverend Suzanne Cooke will be leaving us early in July we still hope to hold a service at 9.30 am on the first Sunday of each month, and when possible this will be a Holy Communion service and anybody is welcome to join us. Rev d Suzanne s last service will be at Wreningham on Sunday July 2nd before her move to Northumberland later that week. We had a very successful and enjoyable quiz on 21st April when we raised 350.00 to be shared with Ashwellthorpe church. The attendance at the meeting called to discuss the future of the church building here at Wreningham was very disappointing and seems to indicate that the Parish is not interested in what happens to this historic building in the future. If this is the case then its days are numbered! Christine Minns Churchwarden 01508 488123 Community Archaeology A parishioner, who is a Project Officer with NPS Archaeology, has asked if parishioners would be interested in undertaking a Wreningham archaeology project. Other local villages, such as Tasburgh and Carleton Rode have already done this with some interesting results. Archaeological training can be provided by the parishioner and his colleagues. The community project team would survey and identify potential test pits around the village, recover artefacts, research history and maps, etc. All to try to discover and document how the modern shape of our village evolved over time. Summer Fete Wreningham Primary School will be holding its Summer Fete on 8th July between 12 noon and 3pm on the school grounds. Last time we included a stall selling local produce and plants donated by families of children at the school and local residents. The children even grew some of their own plants. The stall was very successful and contributed over 40 to our efforts. We would love to repeat this again this year. We would therefore be very grateful for anything you are able to donate, whether this is surplus home grown food, plants or cuttings. Any donations can be left outside the school entrance in the week running up to the fete. For further information, please contact Sarah Jones (sarah_kidman@hotmail.com) Clothes recycling Our clothing bank, which is located just outside the school entrance, accepts towels, blankets, household linen, shoes, trainers and handbags as well as adult's and children's clothing, including underwear and accessories. Please feel free to utilise the bin at any time, as it is emptied on a regular basis. We do ask that any items are placed in plastic bags and please tie shoes together in pairs. Revd Suzanne Cooke Moving On! It was with mixed feelings that the announcement was recently made in the Upper Tas Valley that Adrian, Alice, Toby and I shall be moving on. Mixed because on the one hand we shall be very sad to leave many of the people and friends we have made over the past years, and excited that we are moving to a part of the country we love Northumberland. Adrian and I moved to New Farmhouse, Crostwight in North Norfolk in the year 2000, Toby was born at the then new Norfolk and Norwich Hospital in 2002 and it was from the church of the Holy Trinity in Happisburgh that I began to sense my call to ordained ministry in around 2005. As a growing family we have been very happy in Norfolk. I will especially miss the diverse countryside, the brecks, the huge beaches, forests and farmland and of course the fabulous city of Norwich with its wonderful Cathedral, in which I have spent many hours, both in work and worship. But we are very excited to be going to another very beautiful part of the world. Wooler is a small rural town, sat at the foot of the Cheviot Hills, not far from the Scottish boarder. I shall be looking after St Marys in Wooler along with churches in the small hamlets of Doddington, Iderton and Kirknewton (which is located in the Northumbrian National Park). It is a part of the country that is soaked in history. St Paulinus is recorded to have baptised the first Northumbrian Christians, around the year 627, in the River Glen in the now parish of Kirknewton. Both this church and the church in the centre of Wooler are on the well known pilgrimage route of The Cuthbert s Way. There will be a farewell service at St Peter s Church, Forncett on the 25th June at 10.30 with my last Sunday being the following week at 9.30am at All Saints, Wreningham. It has been a great honour to serve you all these past 4 years and as a family we send our love and best wishes as we all begin this new chapter of the journey.
