STUDY ABROAD GALICIA NW SPAIN

WASHINGTON UNITED STATES NEW YORK GALICIA, AN HOUR AWAY FROM THE MAJOR EUROPEAN CAPITAL CITIES In Galicia, situated on the north-west coast of Spain, there are three airports. The international airport at Santiago takes you to Europe s major capitals in less than an hour and it is just one stop away (via Madrid or Barcelona) from New York or Washington.

THE FINAL POINT OF THE OLDEST EUROPEAN PILGRIMAGE Surrounded by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean (over 1,400 km of coast), green landscapes dotted with picturesque villages and wonderful cuisine make Galicia a peaceful retreat visited by tourists from all over the world. One of its main tourist attractions is El Camino de Santiago, a series of routes that cross Europe before ending in this delughtful city (capital of the region) where the remains of the Apostle Saint James rest. Galicia's population is approximately 3 million. Most of its inhabitants are concentrated in the metropolitan areas of La Coruña, Vigo and Santiago which make up most of the region s social and economic activity. The principal economic sectors in Galicia are fishing, agriculture and the textile industry. The film The Way, starring Martin Sheen, honors the Camino de Santiago and promotes the traditional Pilgrimage. OPORTO PORTUGAL

HERCULE S TOWER LA CORUÑA UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE CENTER LA CORUÑA, A CITY TO EXPERIENCE La Coruña is situated in the north-west of Galicia and part of a metropolitan area of more than 500,000 inhabitants. This peninsular city is famous for its history, its close connection to the sea and its mild climate both in summer and winter. Moreover, its 15-kilometer promenade is ideal for enjoying sports and leisure activities in direct contact with nature. La Coruña has always been associated with important sports champions such as its roller hockey team (Liceo) who has been European champion on several occasions and its soccer team (RC Deportivo), champion of the National League and currently playing against important soccer clubs such as Real Madrid or FC Barcelona. It is a comfortable city to live in with numerous parks, beaches, shopping malls, and restaurants. Getting to the city is easy. Its airport, Alvedro, fifteen minutes away from the city center, offers direct flights to Madrid, Barcelona and London with daily connections to the United States and the rest of the world. The largest textile retailer in the world, Inditex, (Zara) is based in the metropolitan area of La Coruña. It gives the city a modern and urbanite character that is difficult to find in other Spanish cities. La Coruña s combination of natural and urban settings and business and leisure activities make a perfect place to study, enjoy and experience an exclusive lifestyle.

CESUGA, A LEADING BILINGUAL UNIVERSITY COLLEGE Located in the city of La Coruña, the Centro de Estudios Superiores Universitarios de Galicia (CESUGA) was founded twenty one years ago by three prestigious Galician private secondary schools which rank among the best schools in Spain. The pillars that support the teaching and learning at CESUGA are based on a practical approach to education. Small group work, foreign lecturers, a bilingual curriculum and obligatory work placements are key for our success. CESUGA, which opened its doors in 1995 is situated in a modern building in one the city s residential area. It is equipped with the latest sports (indoor swimming pool, soccer fields and basketball courts) and academic facilities (20 fully-equipped lecture halls, a conference hall for over 200, plotters, workshops and 2 computerized technology labs). There is also a library with over 5000 volumes and open 12 hours/day and CESUGA's café-restaurant offering students a choice of dishes. CESUGA offers students accommodation. CESUGA has reached an agreement with the city s principal students residence (Rialta) which provides students with meals and direct transport to and from the Centre.

CESUGA, 21 YEARS EDUCATING PROFESSIONALS Since it opened in 1995, CESUGA has been an associate center of University College Dublin (National University of Ireland), a prestigious internationally renowned Irish university.
