MESSAGE FROM MAYOR MARIA LOWE ~CITY MANAGER INTERVIEWS - On Wednesday, October 8th the City held a public reception for the five City Manager candidates - Mr. Bret Bauer, Mr. Bob Kellogg, Mr. Pat Salerno, Mr. Wayne Saunders and Ms. Ann Toney-Deal. The next day the City Commission interview the candidates individually and then as a group. On Tuesday, October 14th at a special meeting the Commission met to discuss the candidates and decide who they wanted as the next City Manager. All the candidates were very qualified to be City Manager, making the Commission s decision difficult. The Commission unanimously voted to offer the position of City Manager to Mr. Wayne Saunders. On behalf of the City Commission, I would like to thank all the candidates for their interest in St. Pete Beach and wish them the best in their future endeavors. Mr. Saunders comes to St. Pete Beach as an ICMA Credentialed Manager with over thirty-three years experience in local government. Proven leadership ability and proficiency in local government management. He was recently the Finance Director, City of Port Orange, Florida and before that was the City Manager for the City of Clermont, Florida for twenty-seven years. Mr. Saunders received both his MSBA and BSBA from Western Carolina University.

Media Release For Immediate Release October 16, 2014 RE: Decision by the District Court of Appeals of Florida, Second District "The City of St Pete Beach is thankful that the District Court issued its opinion. For too long, questions about the status of litigation have prevented the City from moving forward. The City Commission will convene a special meeting on Tuesday, 21 October 2014 at 2 PM to evaluate the full implications of the District Court's opinion to determine the way ahead that is in the best interest of the City of St Pete Beach residents and businesses. We invite all who are interested in learning more about the District Court's opinion to join us on Tuesday. The Commission looks forward to a productive discussion regarding this subject. No doubt, the District Court's opinion will present challenges to be overcome, but St Pete Beach is a remarkable town with eclectic character that will unite as a community to move forward in a positive direction with a fresh perspective!" Maria Lowe Mayor, City of St Pete Beach
