Our waterfront beach cottage sits on a bluff overlooking the James River and Jamestown Island, with steps down to your private beach. You will have the privacy of a cottage and will be directly across the river from Jamestown and Williamsburg. The view of the river is wide open (about a mile to the left is the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry Dock and to the right is Cobham Bay). Watch spectacular sunrises over the river from the deck or the air conditioned/heated front porch. After enjoying a day of history in Jamestown, Williamsburg, or Yorktown, Busch Gardens, or some of the other attractions Virginia has to offer, come back to relax on the 'rivah' in the privacy of your cottage. Sometimes just watching eagles and ospreys fish, playing on the beach or in the river, or kayaking is just what is needed after a busy day. Or you can just spend a day having fun on the rivah! The James River here at the cottage is tidal water and is clean. The tide comes in and goes out very slowly, so it is great for children to play in. It is partly salty and partly freshwater. There is not a drop-off.
You will have your privacy here. There are no houses behind the cottages. Once you leave the paved road, you are 0.4 mile down a lane from the start of a perfect vacation. The free car ferry belongs to the VA Department of Transportation and runs 24 hours a day. The ferry dock is one mile from the cottage. When landing at Jamestown, Williamsburg is 4 miles straight down the road (about 5 min.), and it takes about 15 minutes to get to Busch Gardens. Yorktown is a little beyond Williamsburg. Two kayaks, a canoe, and adult and children's life preservers are provided. Also provided are beach chairs, beach umbrella, cooler, and beach towels. Linens, coffee maker (with filters, coffee, sugar, creamer), dinnerware, silverware, glassware, cookware, cooking utensils, paper plates and cups, paper towels, toilet paper, napkins, aluminum foil, plastic wrap, baggies, cooking oil, basic spices, mustard, mayonnaise, ketchup, soap, hand soap, dish detergent, towels, dish towels and cloths, Tide, dryer sheets and trash bags are provided. The Bathroom has a tub with a shower. Hair dryer, towels, wash cloths, soap, shampoo, hand soap, toilet paper, and first aid kit are provided. In the backyard there is a gas grill ready for your barbecue. The living area has satellite TV (DIRECTV) and a DVD player. DVD's and books are provided. MLB Extra Innings is provided for you baseball fans! All of the bedrooms are equipped with bed linens, extra blanket, a clock, and a flashlight. One bedroom has a TV (Antenna) and DVD player. On a clear day, you can see the roller coasters at Busch Gardens. As one guest said, it was like coming home after a busy day.
