(I,D) Fri., Apr. 26 - AMSTERDAM / UTRECHT This morning, you can take part in the "Amsterdam and Northern Holland" combined excursion. After a city tour that will include Amsterdam s iconic Grachtengordel or canal ring, a comfortable tour bus will take you, amongst other places, to the charming fishing village of Volendam and to a typical cheese farm in the country. In the meantime, our ship, Amadeus Brilliant, has arrived in Utrecht, and will welcome you on board again at midday to continue south on our journey. Enjoy the panorama of the Lower Rhine region from the Sun Deck or the Lounge. (B,L,D) Sat., Apr. 27 COLOGNE After breakfast, view our arrival into the beautiful city of Cologne. Every year visitors from all over the world are drawn to the historical city and its 2000- year history. Explore the historic Old Town and visit the famous twin-spired Cologne Cathedral, along with the twelve Romanesque Cathedrals that span the city. There are many medieval houses, bridges, and gates that will delight the historian in you, while the more modern skyscrapers that tower overhead are sure to impress. To sample a bit of local flora and fauna, the National Park lies a short ride from the city. After an exciting day, return to the vessel and spend the evening cruising the Rhine River. (B,L,D) Sun., Apr. 28 OBEREWESEL Early this morning, join your fellow traveler s on deck for the famous passage of the Loreley. This narrow passage on the Rhine has inspired a modern day folklore story of the siren of the river. After breakfast the vessel docks in Oberwesel, the City of Towers. Enjoy a walk around the wall that still surrounds much of the city. There are a large number of churches, as well as many historic houses that showcase the architecture of the 17th and 18th centuries. Spend the afternoon relaxing on deck, with the passing of the beautiful Rhineland countryside, as the vessel continues its journey. (B,L,D) Mon., Apr. 29 MILTENBERG / WERTHEIM Today, we visit Miltenberg and Wertheim, two towns famous for their architecture and museums. Both towns are unique in their own way and are reflective of the storied history of the area. We begin with a walking tour in Miltenberg, its timber-frame houses give a feeling of 16th and 17th century Germany. The Angel s Fountain and the Late Gothic Kilian Chapel are especially worth seeing. In Wertheim, explore the medieval streets and it s unique glass museum. This evening, enjoy another memorable meal as the ship plies the waters toward our next stop. (B,L,D) Tue., Apr. 30 - WURZBURG Following our breakfast, we visit Würzburg, a city in Bavaria well known for lavish baroque and rococo architecture, located in the center of the Franconian wine country. Experience the many beautiful sights of the town such as the old main bridge, the Maria Chapel, the marketplace, the Marienberg Fortress and the surrounding vineyards. As a central hub for wine in this part of Germany, Würzburg is the perfect place to visit some local wineries for tastings. From Würzburg, you can venture to nearby Rothenburg ob der Tauber, one of the most perfectly preserved medieval towns in Europe. Its towers, city gates, walls, and half-timbered gables have remained unchanged since the Thirty Years War. Return to the ship and continue down the river Main. (B,L,D) Wed., May 1 BAMBERG The morning is spent cruising the scenic Main River. After lunch arrive in the wonderful Imperial city of Bamberg.
