What is RUAS trying to achieve in UAS? Create a UAS School built on world class facilities and equipment, quality processes and best practice Deliver a common foundation training platform that meets military standards and civil requirements where they exist Provide qualified and skilled personnel into the expanding UAS industry Provide solutions to some of the UAS issues posed 1 year ago at this conference Reducing duplication from unconnected training doctrine and therefore reduce procurement waste Providing a more consistent input standard to OEM Type Providing a third party capability providing consistent training to support Whole Force Concept 23/09/2012 www.resourcegroup.co.uk 9
Founding Principles for RUAS System Design training system to provide foundation skills for UAS Crews Minimise Disruption for Clients Design to meet Military and Civil Standards Re-use material from other schools where possible Use state of the art technology / equipment Recruit experienced UAS/ISTAR instructors 23/09/2012 www.resourcegroup.co.uk 10

CONCLUSIONS With a long heritage of UAS Operations, the UK military and the standards around it, provides a good template for creating training infrastructure. With the extensive drawdown of staff from the military post SDSR, excellent staff are available to apply their experience to a new career in UAS While in other areas of aviation, the military is adopting civil standards. For UAS, maybe the civil regulator should look to military processes for a mature and proven model. 23/09/2012 www.resourcegroup.co.uk 22
