Introduction Everyone introduced themselves. Olivia and Lorraine explained that they had held consultation meetings every year to find out what service users wanted from Creative Support for the next 12 months. They now wanted to find out: If people felt the service from Creative Support had improved What people would like from 2013 3

Highlights of the Year Everyone introduced themselves and said what had a been a highlight of the year for them. These included: Visit to Cadbury s World Holidays in places such as Scarborough, Hemsby and Galway Winning trophies for bowling Receiving a certificate for joining in a sports session Having a new activity space at the office for art and cookery Getting together to celebrate each other s birthdays. Having a barbecue Going to discos Getting together for parties and a meal at Christmas, the Jubilee, a bonfire and Halloween Going to the gym Going to Old Trafford to watch Manchester United. 4

Review of the Year Olivia asked what had been good about Creative Support s service and what was not so good last year. Most people at the meeting had been very pleased with Creative Support s service. They felt that there was lots going on. We talked about the goals set by service users last year, and asked people to score us with a Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down. More Events and Activities - Thumbs Up People said that they had attended events for switching on Christmas lights with a celebrity from X-Factor. Special events had taken place to celebrate Easter and other important dates and more special events were planned for Christmas and the New Year. The new Activity Room at the office meant that new activities were available. Many said that they were very busy. Some attended a Day Centre and many had part time jobs or did volunteering in gardens, café, shops etc. Some people would like to do this but had not found a place as no-one was recruiting now. Everybody had been on holiday and a carol service was planned More Computers and Internet Access Mix of Thumbs Up and Thumbs Down Some individual projects had computers that service users could use. There were 2 computers in the Activities Room at the office for service users and more computers were on the way. Some people living in the community did not have room in their flat for 5

Health and Wellbeing - Thumbs Up Everyone had been to watch the Olympic torch pass through Scunthorpe and service users at individual projects had got together to watch some of the Olympic events. Many had also had opportunities to go to the gym and swimming. Some people last year had said they would like to be able to use a Wii-fit. Service users at Bristol Road said they had one they could use. No one at the meeting smoked and everyone felt that they were encouraged to eat healthily. Cooking classes is one of the activities Communication - Mostly Thumbs apart from Floating Support clients Everybody who lived in a supported living project said that they were very pleased with communication. Those who lived in the community said that they did always get Information. Some had not known about today s meeting until that day and they were not aware of the Health grants. Lorraine told everyone that they could sign up to have information posted out to their home direct, either using the website Subscribe button or by telling the office. People said they could understand the information that they received, or were given the help they needed to understand. 6

Training - Thumbs Up People said that they were happy with the training available. Recruitment training had been given to service users involved in interviews and everyone knew they could book on staff training. People said that they would like computer training when the new computers for the Activity Room arrive. Housing - Thumbs Up Everyone liked their home and some said they liked their new furniture. Some people lived in housing association properties and, although there were gardeners for the front gardens, they could do some work in the back gardens themselves. Service users at one project said they would like more grass with raised beds as they find it hard to bend down. Everyone said they feel safe where they live, although less safe for going out after dark. Some have had training on keeping safe when out at night. 7

Support - Thumbs Up Service users at Hebden said they would like more staff available. Everyone said they were able to make their own choices Everyone said they liked their key workers and were able to keep the staff they liked. People felt that they got the help they needed to manage their money but paying for transport was a problem. Everyone had taxi transport provided to get to the Gateway club but they had no money to pay for taxis to attend other events. People said it was hard to get out as buses only ran during the day and it did not feel safe to go out at night. A floating support client said that they would like staff support to go out at night. You Said We Did Lorraine gave everyone a You Said We Did leaflet which gave more information on what Creative Support had done as a result of last year s feedback. A further meeting would be held next year. Lorraine and Olivia thanked everyone for coming to give their views. 8

What we would like for 2013 Raised beds in the garden More staff at Hebden Court More help with transport Support to go out at night Training on computers More information available to service users on Floating Support More work and volunteering opportunities for those who want them. Keep up what you are doing! 9
