Dear Yale Traveler Join Yale Educational Travel on a late-spring voyage on the Adriatic Sea to Croatia and Montenegro, May 25 June 2, 2018. Visit Dubrovnik, the beautiful islands and ports of Korcula, Hvar, Trogir, and Split in Croatia, and the stunning Bay of Kotor and Kotor Town in Montenegro. Home will be the 18-cabin sailing yacht Running on Waves, the perfect size to navigate both the island-studded coastline as well as the open waters of the Adriatic Sea. To introduce myself, my name is Tony Kronman and I, along with my wife, Nancy Greenberg, will be joining you on Running on Waves for this fascinating cruise along the Dalmatian coast. I'm particularly excited about this cruise because, although Nancy and I have spent a great deal of time in the Mediterranean and have explored nearly every corner of it, from Gibraltar to the Levant, we have never visited the Dalmatian region before. It will be a first for us too! I'm especially looking forward to seeing historic Dubrovik and the remains of the palace of the Roman Emperor Diocletian, with lots of wine and good food in between. This is a storied land, washed over by civilizations ancient and modern. I'm eager to see it with you and to share our impressions together. Our yacht, Running on Waves, comfortably accommodates only 34 guests, so space is sure to go fast! To reserve your spot, mail or fax the completed reservation form in this brochure to Yale Educational Travel, or make a secure reservation online at yaleedtravel.org/adriatic18. If you have questions, please call (203) 432-1952 or email edtravel@yale.edu. WHAT TO EXPECT: This is a moderately active trip for travelers who are flexible, comfortable traveling with a group, and can handle the vagaries of travel with good humor. Navigating uneven terrain at archaeological sites, walking on cobblestone pavement, and standing for up to two hours at museums or other sites are the most strenuous activities. Some locations may have stairs without handrails. Moving around on board the ship requires opening relatively heavy sea doors and climbing or descending relatively steep stairways (with sturdy hand rails). Temperatures in the Adriatic at this time of year generally range from the high 60s to the low 70s F with occasional rain. INSURANCE: Yale Educational Travel highly recommends the purchase of trip cancellation insurance. If participants purchase trip insurance, and we hope that they do, participants are free to purchase the insurance of their choice. Most travel insurance must be purchased within 7-10 days of paying a deposit in order to include certain provisions including pre-existing conditions.
