Sunday, July 24 ABERDEEN, SCOTLAND In the lively university city of Aberdeen, visit Crathes Castle, dating from the 16th century and renowned for its turrets, dormers, gargoyles, and ornate corbeling as well as exquisite painted ceilings. The extensive gardens are a series of interconnected rooms with yew hedges, some dating back 200 years. In the early afternoon, visit the Aberdeen Art Gallery and the Maritime Museum. Alternatively, you may wish to explore Dunnottar Castle, a cliff-top fortress overlooking the sea. This evening join the captain for a festive welcome dinner as you sail toward Cromarty Firth. Monday, July 25 INVERGORDEN, SCOTLAND Discover the gracious city of Inverness and its historic surroundings, including the battlefield of Culloden, where Bonnie Prince Charlie s Jacobite army was put to the sword by Royalist forces. Also visit 14th-century Cawdor Castle, linked by Shakespeare with Macbeth, and still an aristocratic family home with colorful gardens. Sea Cloud II sets a course for the Orkney Islands in the early evening. Wednesday, July 27 INVEREWE, SCOTLAND Be on deck this morning as Sea Cloud II enters picturesque Loch Ewe. Following lunch in this magnificent setting, Lord Dunleath will show us his family collections of painting and sculpture. Sea Cloud II remains in port overnight. Sunday, July 31 BELFAST Today explore the rolling countryside of County Down. Visit the 19th-century National Trust property of Mount Stewart, former home of the marquesses of Londonderry.
