FinalReport Asiamold 2009 received over 10,400 visitors from 44 countries and regions, an increase of more than 8% on last year Exhibition regarded as a major gateway for Asian mold and die maker to enter into international market Visitor delegations unanimously praised the professionalism and quality of the 2009 exhibition Cutting-edge technologies, informative seminars and workshops a hit with visitors Asiamold 2009 was declared an international success, having received 10,468 visitors from 44 countries and regions over the course of the three-day fair period. Most impressively, this reflected an increase of 8.4% in the attendance figure achieved last year, which is remarkable given the extent of the current financial crises. The third edition of Asiamold successfully reinforced its leading position as the top trade exhibition in Southern China for mould-making and tooling, design and application. This was achieved by following the example set by its sister event EuroMold in adopting the fair concept From Design to Prototyping to Series Production, which ensured the fair organiser received positive feedback from exhibitors and visitors alike. Exhibition regarded as a major gateway for Asian mold and die maker to enter into international market Regarded as a major gateway for Asian mold and die maker to enter into international market, the global recession has barely impacted the popularity of Asiamold. Participation of both international and domestic exhibitors at the 2009 event was up respectively by 10% and 6% on last year. In total, 298 leading brands from 12 countries and regions flocked to Guangzhou to showcase their latest and most advanced machinery, equipment and products. Covering a display area of 20,000sqm, this year s exhibition also featured a Hong Kong Pavilion organised by the Hong Kong Mould & Die Council, a Metal Manufacturing Pavilion organised by the Hong Kong Metal Manufacturers Association, a Singapore Pavilion organised by the Singapore Precision Engineering and Tooling Association and a EuroMold Pavilion organised by DEMAT. International exhibitors collectively praised the professionalism of Asiamold. Jeda Industries Inc, a returnee exhibitor from Korea specialising in the manufacture of components for press moulds and automotive moulds considered the 2009 edition to be the best one yet. This is our second time to participate at Asiamold and the result this time was even better than 3
before. We have had meetings with the procurement teams of Honda and Toyota and are confident that these will lead to future business dealings. With Guangdong developing into the primary manufacturing base of the major auto brands, I believe Asiamold will increasingly play a significant role in our ongoing marketing strategy, stated Overseas Sales Team Manager, Mr. Chang-Min Sung. This sentiment was likewise expressed by Ultratech Account Manager Mr. Jonney Zhu, Asiamold is the top trade fair of its kind in China and therefore the best platform to showcase our capabilities, enhance brand awareness and increase share in the marketplace. So far, we have met with five potential clients, which we are fairly positive will be developed further. Receiving 1,233 international visitors, an increase of 15.6% on the year before, many of which senior decision makers in purchasing, design and R&D, exhibitors were also impressed with the calibre and internationality of the 2009 attendees. Ms. Phoebe Lu, Account Manager for Century Step Precision Molds Ltd observed, The visitor flow this year was diversified and comprehensive. This included high-profile delegations from Brazil, Germany, Iran, Malaysia, Singapore, the UK and the US, as well as agents, distributors, fellow suppliers and direct clients from the automotive and communications industries. As the exhibition is strategically positioned for mould-makers, it is really beneficial to our business. Ms. Hwang Meei Ing, Chairwoman of Taipei Industries Pte Ltd was pleased with overall attendance. This was our first time to participate in Asiamold. The professionalism of the event combined with the quality mix of visitors from around the world that were interested in our patented hi-tech products was beyond our expectations. We have never had a moment to spare over the last three days. With visitors from 44 ountries and regions of which the top 10 by visitor volume were from China, Hong Kong, Iran, Malaysia, India, the US, Japan, Brazil, Taiwan and Russia, Asiamold enables exhibitors to expand their customer base. We manufacture a wide variety of precision moulds, 80% of which, we export abroad. It s worth our while to participate at Asiamold because the exhibition receives a wide variety of visitors from all around the world. Many opportunities to meet with potential new customers face-to-face and establish log-term relationships exist. So far, we have entered into preliminary discussions surrounding the production of medical components, which we are optimistic will lead to further in-depth talks in the coming months ahead, noted Mr. James Yin, Sales Manager of Henda Industrial (HK) Ltd. Visitor delegations unanimously praised the professionalism and quality of the 2009 exhibition The international reputation enjoyed by Asiamold is reflected in the increase in attendance of overseas visitor delegations. This year, five delegations attended the exhibition from Brazil, 4
Germany, Iran, Malaysia and Singapore. Two buyer delegations were also organised by the American Chamber of Commerce and the British Chamber of Commerce. Each of these delegations had between 20 to 30 delegates. Keenly aware that time is money, the Export Manager of Asia Baumann, Ms. Ligia Liu, who was responsible for the Brazilian delegation in conjunction with the fair organiser had prepared in advance a tailored business matching service for the delegates. All the members of the Brazilian delegation were very pleased with the selection and quality of the exhibitors participating at this year s Asiamold. In particular, they were considerably impressed with the quality and competitive pricing of many of the Chinese exhibitors. This has been a great sourcing opportunity for them, they came here prepared to sign contracts and believe many of them will do so after all the factory visits have been completed. Responsible for the Iranian delegation, Mr. Jamshid Tavakkol, International Relations & Commercial Services Centre General Manager, Iranian Scientific & Industrial Services Co was pleased with the increased sourcing opportunities available. Asiamold is a niche fair that attracts a good selection of quality exhibitors. Most importantly, it s easy to navigate, which shortened considerably the time spent searching for suitable suppliers. Similarly impressed by Asiamold s ability to facilitate the transfer of knowledge, Mr. Tavakkol went on to add From an educational point of view, the delegates found it extremely beneficial to view first-hand the latest cutting-edge technologies employed by manufacturers in related and similar fields. This has definitely widened their operational perspective and will no doubt lead to closer cooperation s being sought in the future. Cutting-edge technologies, informative seminars and workshops a hit with visitors Asiamold also featured an impressive range of cutting-edge technolgies and fringe programmes. Under the Hong Kong Pavilion, an Advanced Moulding Workshop was set-up to demonstrate the manufacturing processes of sophisticated mould and die equipment. To assist exhibition attendees gain the latest industrial knowledge and market updates, experts from a diverse range of backgrounds delivered more than 20 sessions of technical talks and presentations. The wide range of technologies on display impressed Mr. Lin Qing Wei, Technical Manager of Jinyahao Metal Manufacturer Co Ltd the most. I came to Asiamold specifically for advanced die-cast technology to improve our prototyping performance. I was not disappointed; on display were a wide variety of new technologies and products, particularly in the area of plastics and moulding. For Mr. Jack Chen, International Department Manager, Jiangmen Junsheng Metal & Plastic Manufacturer Co Ltd, it was the opportunity to learn more about the latest technologies being employed in injection moulding. This was my first visit to Asiamold. My objective was to look for new technologies being adopted in the injection-moulding sector. I found the 5
demonstration of the three-colour injection processes in the Advanced Moulding Workshop in Hong Kong Pavilion particularly interesting. Also, during my time here, I have increased my understanding of in-mould decoration too. Asiamold is organised by Guangzhou Guangya Messe Frankfurt, in cooperation with DEMAT GmbH and Hong Kong Mould & Die Council. The next edition of the fair will be held from 15 17 September 2010 at the Poly World Trade Centre Expo (Pazhou) Guangzhou, China.
