The SAR team rescued and transferred the subject to BCAS at the Golden Airport. SWE INLAND WATER 6 6 Kent-Harrison SAR members responded to investigate a partially submerged vehicle in the Fraser River near the Agassiz-Rosedale Bridge. SAR was stood down after they ascertained that the vehicle was empty. SEA LAND 1 1 Revelstoke SAR member responded to locate a SPOT Beacon sounding in the Boulder Mountain area. It was an accidental spot activation and the RCMP stood down SAR. SEA LAND 4 15 4 15 Revelstoke SAR members responded to locate 4 missing snowmobilers in the Boulder Mountain area. The SAR team located the subjects, in good condition and assisted them out of the area. CTL LAND 2 3 2 3 COSAR members responded to rescue two people stuck in the snow on Oyama Lake Road. Both subjects were rescued and brought out by the SAR team. SWE LAND 2 1 2 1 Whistler SAR member responded to a report of 2 stranded skiers in the Seventh Heaven area of Blackcomb Mountain. The Blackcomb ski patrol team was able to locate and rescue the skiers. SWE LAND 2 7 2 7 Whistler SAR members responded to locate two elderly skiers, lost while in the back country of Garibaldi Provincial Park. The skiers were located, cold and dehydrated. They were assisted out of the area via snowmobile and handed over to the BCAS crew for further assessment and treatment. SWE LAND 1 6 1 6 Whistler SAR members responded to rescue an injured snowmobiler on Sproatt Mountain near Whistler. The subject was airlifted out of the area and transferred to BCAS. CTL LAND 1 2 1 2 Shuswap SAR members responded to rescue an injured snowmobiler on Quest Mountain in Malakwa. The SAR team was stood down by RCMP when they were able to access the subject. SEA LAND 1 15 1 15 Nelson, Kaslo and Vernon SAR members responded to rescue an injured snowboarder north of Trout Lake, near Nakusp. The SAR team rescued the injured subject and transferred to BCAS for treatment. SEA LAND 1 5 1 5 Revelstoke SAR members responded to rescue an injured snowmobiler at Kirk Up Creek, near Revelstoke. The subject sustained a suspected broken leg and was transferred to BCAS. SWE LAND 1 6 1 6 Hope SAR members responded to rescue a stranded skier on Zoa Mountain. The SAR team was able to access the subject and escort them to safety. 20 15:31 SWE LAND 4 23 4 23 North Shore Rescue members responded to

171368 rescue 4 subjects stuck in a tree well, possibly injured, on Hollyburn Mountain. There were 2 people stuck, who self rescued and were treated by Cypress Ski Patrol for hypothermia. 20 16:38 171369 20 18:23 171370 20 19:01 171371 20 20:50 171372 20 21:53 171373 20 22:16 171374 20 22:37 171375 21 00:09 171376 21 12:03 171377 SWE LAND 2 27 2 27 Squamish SAR members responded to rescue an injured female hiker who had fallen 20 feet near the second peak of the Chief, Squamish. The SAR team found two subjects needing assistance and escorted them out of area and passed them to BCAS for examination. SEA LAND 2 28 2 28 South Columbia, Castlegar, Nelson, Rossland, Grand Forks and Vernon SAR members responded to locate a SPOT beacon activation that belonged to a skier near Trail. Two subjects were rescued alive, but cold by the SAR team and passed off to BCAS for treatment. NEA LAND 2 6 2 6 Robson Valley SAR members responded to locate two overdue snowmobilers on the trails in the Clemina Creek area towards Blue River. The subjects were located and it was determined that their machine had broken down. The SAR team escorted them out of the area. VIR LAND 35 35 Comox Valley SAR members responded to rescue stranded motorists on Mount Washington due to heavy snow conditions. The SAR team was stood down after EMCON was able to clear the road of fallen trees and vehicles were able to slowly make there way out. RCMP called SAR out again after the snow plow was reported to have broken down and there were still people stuck in the snow further up the road. RCMP stood down SAR again, prior to them heading back to the area as assistance was no longer required. CTL LAND 10 1 10 1 COSAR member responded to locate 10 missing grade 12 students who went off-roading near Postil Lake. SAR was stood down when RCMP were able to determine that the subjects were in town and not at the previously reported location. SEA LAND 2 26 2 26 South Columbia, Rossland, Castlegar, Nelson and Vernon SAR members responded to rescue 2 overdue snowboarders on the Red Mtn Resort near Rossland. Both subjects were located by SAR and brought out to BCAS crews. SWE LAND 1 30 1 30 Coquitlam, North Shore Rescue, Surrey, Lions Bay, and Ridge Meadows SAR responded to locate a missing hiker in the Buntzen Lake area of Coquitlam. SAR teams were stood down when the subject walked out on his own. NEA LAND 6 6 Robson Valley SAR responded to locate an overdue snowmobiler near Allen Creek in McBride. SAR was stood down by RCMP when they determined there was no abandoned vehicle in the parking lot at the trailhead as previously reported. VIR INLAND WATER 3 36 1 2 20 Campbell River and 16 Comox Valley SAR members responded to rescue 2 people in a creek at the end of Clinton Road, Campbell River due to an ATV accident. It was learned that one person had been extricated immediately and transported to hospital. The other two subjects were located, deceased, by the time of writing this report.

The SAR teams located the subject and brought them out and transferred to BCAS for treatment. CTL LAND 5 1 5 1 Wells Gray SAR member responded to locate the subject of an Inreach device going off in the Blue River area where 5 snowmobilers were reported missing. The SAR team was stood down when it was determined that the InReach device was accidentally activated. SWE LAND 1 14 1 14 Squamish SAR members responded to rescue an injured female skier who sustained a knee injury on the way to Round Mountain at Red Heather Hut near the Diamond Head Trail. The subject was escorted out by Squamish SAR and transferred to BC ambulance for treatment. CTL LAND 1 16 1 16 Vernon SAR members responded to locate an overdue snowmobiler in the Hunters Range area in Enderby. The hunter was located and brought out to safety, in good condition. SWE LAND 9 9 Central Fraser Valley SAR responded to search for a missing 90 year old male. WEEKLY INCIDENT REPORT Jan 15 21, 2018 DANGEROUS GOODS On 19 Jan 2018, CN Rail reported that 27 coal cars derailed at mile 48.5 of the Bulkley Subdivision between New Hazelton and South Hazelton. Some of the cars slid down an embankment toward an iced over creek.. The incident was raised to Code 2 urgent status by the Ministry of Environment Response Officer (MOE RO) while CN environmental and emergency response crews attended to recover spilled coal from the frozen creek FLOODING On 21 Jan 2018, flooding of Whiskey Creek affected several homes and impacted a section of Highway 4 in the Nanaimo Regional District. Culverts under the highway were blocked. There was also flooding along French Creek on Rivers Crescent where the water came close to some homes. MOTI and the Highways Contractor (Emcon) responded. On 21 Jan 2018, the Strathcona Regional District opened their Emergency Operations Center (EOC) due to flooding in the Woods Creek area. Sandbags were supplied to one affected residence and the EOC was closed. LANDSLIDE On 21 Jan 2018, a landslide occurred that resulted in a house being knocked off of its foundation in Campbell River. No injuries were reported, and an initial stability assessment was completed recommending that four properties be evacuated until a comprehensive geo-technical assessment was completed. The City of Campbell River declared a State of Local Emergency and issued an Evacuation Order to the four properties. MISCELLANEOUS On 18 January 2018, two families were impacted when an excavator hit a gas line in the Vancouver area. The two families were provided with ESS assistance.
