ROUNDHOUSE REVIEW The Monthly Newsletter of the BOEING EMPLOYEES RAILROAD CLUB ST. LOUIS VOL. XXVIII No. 2 FEBRUARY 2005 Editor:_Ron_Hardy_ External Website - [www.berrc-stl.com] Next Meeting March 8, 2005 7:00 p.m. Bridgeton Trails Branch of the St. Louis County Librarys Twenty-eight members and guests of the Boeing Employees Railroad Club St. Louis were present at the Bridgeton Trails Branch of the St. Louis County Library when President Bob Keeler called the regular monthly meeting to order on February 8, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. Tom Yates, a MDC retiree, was in attendance. OFFICERS REPORTS Secretary Ron Hardy The minutes of the January 2005 meeting were accepted as corrected to reflect Vice President Rick LaBeau presided over the meeting. Motion to approve by Don Landschoot, second by Dale Schuk. Treasurer Bruce Ketts The Treasurer s report for January 2005 was accepted as presented. Councilor Rich Young We received our budget from Recreation and got $688.00. We will need to submit payment requests and 2005 dated receipts to Linda in order to receive payment and be eligible for next year's budget. Basically we received $10 for each active employee and $6 for each retiree. We also need to update our "President's Award" trophy that hangs over in Bldg 64 in the hallway that Recreation is on. The latest date is 2001, so we need to add the 2002 through 2004 President's awards. As soon as we determine who those people were, I'll get with Linda Watson and have the trophy updated. CONDUCTORS REPORTS Swap Meet Wayne Schimmel Our swap meet next spring will be held at the NORTH COUNTY COMPLEX on Redman Rd on April 2 nd. Tables sales are moving along. So far, I have 37 people signed up for 95 tables. I would like to have someone put flyers out at the GATS show next weekend. I ll be on a campout until Saturday night. I plan on going Sunday, but the flyers should be there on Saturday. I have the contact for Queeny Park for next September 10, 2005. We don t have to pay for it before September 1 st. Roundhouse Review Ron Hardy Any items you wish to have included in the February newsletter should be to the Editor by February 22 nd. Items for the March newsletter are needed by March 30 th. Library George Rees Mike Chizmar reports the overdue book has been returned. George will be out of town through mid March. Mike Chizmar has graciously volunteered to man the library in my absence so if you need something, please contact him. Contest John Huebner No report. Tools Bob Keeler No report. Freight Agent Vic Dunajcik I picked up the hunter green sweatshirt this afternoon so I brought them with me. I didn't have time to E mail everyone to let them know I have them. But I brought them with me for anyone that brought their checkbooks with them. The price of the sweatshirt without logo went up a dollar between the time I made the inquiry into the availability of the hunter green color and by the time I placed the order; therefore the prices with logo are as follows: Sizes M to XL...$12.50 Size XXL...$14.00 I didn't price the XXXL because no one expressed an interest in that size. I would assume the same incremental increase would exist which would raise the price to about $15.50 but that's a guess on my part. Program No report. Magazine Dale Schuk I have been asked to subscribe to the magazine: The Railroad Press. The cost is $20 per year for 4 issues. I need at least 5 people (4 additional) before I will purchase it. Please contact me if you are interested. Video Library Dale Schuk The following members have videos due 1
back at this meeting: Afflick, and Shindel. Dale has talked to Bill Afflick and will meet with him this weekend to receive the overdue tapes. HO Modules Jim McClain/Kevin Brown We set up on Saturday morning at the Heart of St. Charles for the St. Charles Railroad Club swap meet. The wind and cold air kept us moving fast and we got it done in two hours. The trains ran well most of the time and we have enough people during the day and for tear down, Bob Keeler and Bob Leight hauled the trailers. We appreciate and thank you for the help. I feel it was a success and we also received a check for the club. Dale Schuk will be working on the circus corner module and Kevin Brown is working on the yard. A sign up sheet will be in the next Roundhouse Review for the set up in April. N Modules Tom Mallien The modules were set up at the St. Louis Zoo over the Christmas holidays. We had good help, good weather and have been asked back again next year. Anyone wishing to participate in the GATS show this February in Collinsville contact Tom Mallien. Trailers Bob Leight Bob installed the new lights on the small trailer but they now have a short in the wiring. Bob will try to correct before the trailer is used next Saturday. You may take kids, grandkids, friend, etc. on this trip. We will have a good time. We have 2 people (1 couple) signed up for the Rome trip so far. Global said that because of the low number that they would not run the trip as planned. So, for the ones who have signed up, they will be transferred to one of their other trips. We had planned on meeting with Global last month but the snow came and we cancelled. WE plan on meeting with them in the next couple of weeks. We are now taking deposits for the Calif. Trip.
