Greek gods. They re not real! You might think. But millions of years ago, that is what the Ancient Greeks didn t believe! When you read this, you will take a tour back to way before you were born. You ll see the 12 major gods, and learn their characteristics.

God of: The sky. Item: The Master Bolt. Sacred Animal: The eagle. Roman Name: Jupiter Other Information: The king of Olympus, has a lot of children, a wife, an evil child-eating dad, two brothers, and a wife. He also has a blacksmith, and a messenger. Yikes!

Goddess of: Marriage and birth. Item: Doesn t have one. Sacred Animals: The peacock and cow. Roman Name: Juno. Other Information: Wife and sister of Zeus. Only has children with Zeus. Queen of the gods. As a wedding present, she gave Zeus golden apples. Has a dragon to guard the apples. Her chariot is pulled by peacocks.

God of: The ocean. Item: Trident. Sacred Animal: The horse. Roman Name: Neptune Other Information: Brother of Zeus. Got swallowed by Cronus, but survived. Has a palace underwater. Father of all Cyclopes. In Rick Riordan s series, Percy Jackson, Percy is his son. Has a wife named Amphitrite.

God of: The Underworld. Item: Helm of Darkness. Sacred Animal: The Screech owl. Roman Name: Pluto Other Information: The brother of Zeus and Poseidon. Also got swallowed by Cronus, but survived. Made the Underworld look like a version of Mt. Olympus. All of the dead people in Ancient Greece live in the Underworld. His wife is Persephone, Demeter s daughter. Doesn t have a throne on Olympus.

Goddess of: The harvest Item: Cronus s Scythe. Sacred Animal: The snake. Roman Name: Ceres Other information: Sister of Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, and Hera. Daughter of Rhea and Cronus. Her only daughter is Persephone, goddess of flowers, who ate a fruit in the Underworld and now lives there forever. Persephone can only visit her Mom during spring, and summer. Controls winter, summer, autumn, and spring. Got swallowed by Cronus.

Goddess of: Love and Beauty. Item: Scarf(Has love magic). Sacred Animal: The rabbit and the dove. Roman Name: Venus. Other Information: Is married to Hephaestus but Ares is her boyfriend. The reason why she can do that is because that gods have no DNA. She got the golden apples from Troy and now protects it. Daughter of Zeus.

God of: The sun, the oracle, medicine, and poetry. Item: Bow and arrows. Sacred Animal: Wolf Roman Name: Apollo. Other Information: His sister is Artemis. Was born on a small island after Artemis was born. He is skilled with a bow and arrow, and can tell the future. He is good at making sons, and he has a golden flying chariot. His chariot only goes west. Son of Zeus and a female titan. His son is Asclepius, god of medicine.

God of: War. Item: Spear or sword. Sacred Animal: Boar. Roman Name: Mars. Other Information: Brother of Athena and his parents are Zeus and Hera. His symbol is a spear and a sword just like Athena. Athena and him always get into fights. Ares is tough, and a skilled fighter. But he is not that bright.

Goddess of: The moon and the hunt. Item: Bow and arrows. Sacred Animal: The wolf. Roman Name: Diana. Other Information: She is an excellent archer and fighter. She thinks that maidens should have the right to fight in battles. Her favorite thing to turn into is a maiden. Artemis doesn t like boys. In fact, she turns them into a mix between a antelope and a jack rabbit!

Goddess of: War strategy and wisdom. Item: War helmet and spear. Sacred Animal: The owl. Roman Name: Minerva. Other Information: She had a weaving contest with Arachne, but she won! She was born from Zeus s thoughts which means she knows everything in the universe. In Percy Jackson, Annabeth is her daughter. She always fights with Ares.

Fire God of: Fire(He can also make everything with high technology) Item: He makes them. Sacred Animal: The donkey. Roman Name: Vulcan. Other Information: He the husband of Aphrodite, but she prefers gods like Ares. He is also the god of blacksmiths, and he is the ugliest of all gods. That is why Hera threw him off the cliff.

God of: Roads and thieves. Item: Caduceus. Sacred Animal: The Tortoise. Roman Name: Mercury. Other Information: He leads the dead into the Underworld. He wears winged sandals and a helmet that is also winged to give him speed. He can steal anything. Hermes is also the messenger to the gods. He also plays a lyre.

God and Goddess of: Dionysus: Wine and theater. Hestia: The hearth. Item: Dionysus: Theater masks. Hestia: Doesn t have one. Sacred Animal: Dionysus: Leopard. Hestia: Doesn t have one. Roman Name: Bacchus and Vesta Other Information: Hestia doesn t have a throne on Olympus. She gave it to Dionysus. She is pure god. Dionysus is a demigod. That means he has a god parent and a human parent.

Conclusion: Now that you know about the gods, you might get interested. If you do, you might want to research about them. You just might learn more, and maybe you will learn more than what this project says. If you do, you could maybe start your own project about Greek gods. Sources: My brother. Yeah, that s it and all of the Percy Jackson books.
