Agriculture Projects 1. Western Cashew Industries 2. Mwinilunga pineapple Cannery Western Cashew Industries A company growing and processing cashew nuts is looking for a joint venture partner to expand its production and processing. The company has 3,740 ha of land and is currently growing 250,000 trees and has a factory and buildings on 5,578 square meters of land with adequate space for further development. Opportunities exist for establishment of a pineapple canning factory in Mwinilunga District in the Northern part of. There are 720 farmers currently growing pineapples on a total hectarage of 528. Prior to the collapse of the pineapple factory a total of 1,421 ha were under cultivation and 11,368 tonnes of pineapples were being produced. 3. Senanga Citrus Plantation 1,250 ha of land is available in Senanga district about 50 km South of Mongu on the Senanga tarred road in the western province of. The land has been set aside for the establishment of a citrus plantation and the establishment of a juice making factory. The land is ideal for mangoes, pineapples or cashew nut growing. 4. Nansanga Farm Block Nansanga is a degraded central African plateau, dominated by miombo woodlands with between 700-1000 mm average annual rainfalls. Approximately 100,000 ha the land is ideal for growing maize, beans, soya beans, groundnuts, virginia tobacco, rice, tea, sunflower, finger millet coffee, wheat and oil seeds. Nansanga has good access roads which are currently being rehabilitated and new ones are being opened. Power line connections are under way. It has a medium potential for irrigation, since it s covered by a good stream network. 5. Luena Sugar The government has set aside approximately 100,000 ha in Luapula Province for agriculture investments. Luena enjoys high rainfall annual average of 1000 1500 mm. Suitable crops for this area include sugarcane, fruits, wheat tea, maize, rice, potatoes, onions, oil seeds, cassava, beans, finger millet, tobacco and soya beans. Luena has a high irrigation potential; its covered by a wide expanse of wetlands and numerous streams. 1

6. Fish Breeding A joint venture opportunity is available on 70 ha of land on the Kafue River frontage for the breading of Breams and Tilapia. Another joint venture opportunity exists for an Aqua Harvest Fish Farm in Siavonga. This project is for intensive tilapia farming using cage culture. The local market shortfall of fish is estimated at 35,000 tons/annum. Two lots of land one measuring 90 ha and the other 4.5 ha re available on the shorelines of the Lake Kariba. 2

MINING PROJECTS 1. Copper mining Kasempa Mining 400 Hectare concession in North Western Province Kasempa. Requires exploration and promoters seek a Joint venture partner to finance exploration, feasibility study and subsequent development. Not yet determined. 2. Quick lime quarrying and processing Atlantic Lime Products Quicklime is a feedstock in mining metallurgical processing and is in short supply (2,000 TPD demand vs. 400 TPD supply), excluding export to DRC. This project is on 3,500 hectares in Kabwe Central Province and has proven reserves of 420 tones with 5 billion tones probable. Trial mining done and lime quality meets mine requirements. Project promoters seek technical and equity partners to develop a large scale lime project. Depending on mine size to vary between US$ 40 US$ 80. 3. Emerald Mining Nanchingwali Enterprises 4. Gemstone mining ZCCM- Holdings Located in Lufwanyama emerald area, owners have invested US$200,000 in exploration and trial mining done for beryl at 8 meter depth, with higher grade from 16 m 50 meter. It has gemstone Mining Licence, Environmental Impact Assessment, Exploration and Core Drilling Reports. Potential to produce US$1.5 m of stone per annum. Promoters seek joint venture partners Holds a 114 hectare concession in Lufwanyama restricted area and has invested US$500,000 to date in equipment and is in production. Promoters seek equity partners for mine expansion. Holds a 42 hectare concession in Kalomo district Southern and is operating on a small scale due to lack of equipment. Produces 3 TPD of carboshone, facet and low grade amethyst. Seeks Joint venture partner to acquire 75% of mine to enable acquire equipment to expand production. Exploration of 10,000 hectares of land and subsequent development of mine. Initial drilling done at 200m depth and 100 m diameter but will require further detailed feasibility work. Chirundu Border Shopping Complex Chipepo Trust Construction and operation of a retail shopping complex with truck/car park facilities, filling station and lodging facilities. Located on 400x1000 m.
