MELBOURNE BOAT SHOW PROFILE In 2018, the Melbourne Boat Show will be celebrating its 58th year of operation, making it one of Australia s longest running boat shows. The Melbourne Boat Show is owned and organised by the Boating Industry Association of Victoria (BIAV), which represents an industry worth $4.5 billion to the Victorian economy and provides more than 17,700 FTE jobs. With a core function to support member businesses and promote recreational boating and the boating lifestyle, the Melbourne Boat Show is a vital component to the BIAV s support of the growth, progress and sustainability of the marine industry and is the largest promotion of recreational boating in Victoria. It was one of my best Melbourne Boat Show results for some years, with it being responsible for over 0% of our turnover. Taking place at the state-of-the-art event venue, the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre (MCEC), the Melbourne Boat Show sees visitors both locally, nationally and internationally each year. MELBOURNE BOAT SHOW PROFILE Qualified Audience Research from a recent Melbourne Boat Show survey of visitors has shown clearly that visitors who attend the Melbourne Boat Show are qualified buyers. Their sole reason for visiting the Melbourne Boat Show is to make a purchase. In addition to this, 4% of visitors are boat owners, indicating that the Melbourne Boat Show is a favourable environment for exhibitors to market their products and services, because it is attended by a large percentage of the boating market in Victoria. 4% of respondents indicated they attended the show specifically to buy something. This means nearly half of all Melbourne Boat Show visitors are qualified buyers. INVITATION TO EXHIBIT Melbourne Boat Show Promotion Marketing and promotion of the Melbourne Boat Show is extensive, reaching a wide audience across a number of platforms that begins months prior to the Melbourne Boat Show. It is foremost designed to build attendance at the Melbourne Boat Show and create new interest in the boating lifestyle. We employ a strategy that encompasses both traditional and new media marketing methods including an advertising campaign across television, radio, print and web, media publicity, digital and web platforms. The success of the Melbourne Boat Show is also achieved through a collaborative effort with exhibitors, who are provided with a number of marketing tools and resources to promote to their internal and external audiences. We sold a lot of product and did exceptionally well on sales. The Melbourne Boat Show is an essential part of our yearly calendar and keeps us busy during the winter months which is important for us. It provides a detailed indicative map of the exhibitor floor space and listing of each exhibitor. This free listing is an entitlement afforded to all exhibitors as indicated on the Application to Exhibit Form. APPLYING FOR SPACE All Exhibitors must complete online the Application to Exhibit form fully and adhere to the terms and conditions described. This form can be found on the Exhibitor page of the Melbourne Boat Show website at www.melbourneboatshow.com.au/exhibitors. Verbal applications will not be accepted. Space is allocated at the discretion of BIAV and the submission of an online application form is not a guarantee of space, successful applications will be advised of their allocated space. An Exhibitors Manual will be provided to all Melbourne Boat Show exhibitors, which will also be available for download online. This will provide details of the Show, nominated contractors, move in and move out processes and general exhibitor information. Exhibitor Discount Exhibitors who pay ALL instalments on or before the due dates as listed are eligible for % discount off the total cost of their stand. The % discount will be deducted on the final instalment (invoice) which must be received by the th May 2018. 12
