This comprehensive journey explores Greece s most important ancient monuments, including the famed Temple of Zeus, the incredible Acropolis in Athens, the archaeological site of Olympia and ancient artifacts of Delphi. During this 15-day tour we will also explore the excavations of the ancient city at Akrotiri. Described by many as the most important prehistoric settlement found anywhere in the Eastern Mediterranean. We ll learn the history of this fascinating country from local experts on fully guided tours through Athens, Meteora, Delphi, Olympia and Corinth. Exploring Greece at a glance Join a local expert to explore Athens and its famed sites. Visit two breathtaking Byzantine monasteries in Metéora, built over 600 years ago. Tour the Delphi Museum with its priceless collection of ancient artifacts. Experience traditional Greek music with a delightful Greek dance class. Explore the grandeur of Olympia, birthplace of the Olympic Games. Journey through Mykonos, the jewel of the Cyclades Islands. Feast on local food and wine at a traditional taverna. May 21 - Athens, Greece Your tour begins in the capital city of Athens. This evening, join your fellow travelers for a welcome dinner in Athens historic Plaka district. Stop to see a monument dedicated to Leonidas who died defending the city against the Persians. Arrive in Metéora and visit two remote monasteries situated in a unique landscape of limestone rock towers that extend nearly 900 feet into the air. Over 600 years ago, Byzantine monks chose to build their monastic community perched atop these virtually inaccessible rocks. End your day at a family-owned taverna where you will savor a delicious meal with recipes passed down from generations. Breakfast & Dinner / Famissi Eden Hotel May 24 - Kalambaka - Delphi This morning, visit a local studio to see painters at work creating beautiful Byzantine icons. Continue to the ancient city of Delphi, one of Greece s most important religious centers during Classical times. A local expert guides you on a visit to the Sanctuary of Apollo, the Doric Temple, the ancient theatre, and the Delphi Museum with its priceless collection of ancient artifacts. It was here that the famous Oracle was consulted to foretell the destiny of Man. Continue on to charming Arachova, a popular ski resort town with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Pricing and Terms The cost per person for this tour is based on double occupancy. We can provide single occupancy accommodations at an additional cost of $950 per person. The number of single rooms is limited and will be accepted on a first-come first serve-basis. For that reason, you may want to consider a roommate for this trip. If you are interested in finding an appropriate roommate to take advantage of the double occupancy rates, we will be pleased to share contact information with others seeking a roommate. Please let us know of your interest. For this LLC adventure, we have planned a truly comprehensive experience. A hometown transfer to RDU, round-trip airfare, assistance through security and customs, all transfers, accommodations for 13 nights with breakfast daily, 1 lunch, 8 dinners, guide and escort services, admissions and views as described in the itinerary and ground transportation for all excursions. Jennifer Baer, Director of The Lifetime Learning Center for CCC, will escort the group and work in partnership with AAA of the Carolinas and our professional guide for the benefit, comfort and safety of our group from departure to return.
