Introduction Additional References Technical Support Dear Aviator! Thank you for using Mobile FliteDeck VFR! Jeppesen ios applications are continually modified to be fully compatible with the latest Apple operating system and ios devices. Mobile FliteDeck VFR is a mobile electronic flight bag (EFB) solution designed for the General Aviation pilot. This document describes system requirements, updates, resolved issues, and known limitations for Mobile FliteDeck VFR, version 2.2.1 for ios. In addition to these Release Notes, Jeppesen provides detailed, task-oriented training and documentation for Mobile FliteDeck VFR users on the web at http://jeppesen.ning.com/ Additional help is also available from within the app from the Help Screens available for selected screens. Jeppesen provides technical support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at: North America Toll Free: 800-537-7225 United States Direct: 303-328-6175 International: 49-6102-507004 Email: navsupport@jeppesen.com System Requirements The minimum operating system for Mobile FliteDeck VFR 2.2.1 is ios 10.3.3 At the time of release, Mobile FliteDeck VFR 2.2.1 has been tested, and is compatible with ios 11.0 Hardware Supported The list of supported devices for Mobile FliteDeck VFR 2.2.1 is related to devices running with ios 10.3.3 and ios11.0 Note, this does not include ipad (1 st generation), ipad2 and ipad Mini. Update and Deployment Considerations Mobile FliteDeck VFR is released through available Apple distribution models. Only one version of the app can be downloaded to the ipad at a time. 3

The Mobile FliteDeck VFR app and data, including subsequent data updates, requires 2 to 6 GB of available storage capacity on the ipad. The variability in the storage capacity requirement is related to the size of the coverage area. About Initial Download and Data Updates Before using Mobile FliteDeck VFR the first time or when you change your coverage, an INITIAL DOWNLOAD OF DATA MUST BE DONE. Otherwise Mobile FliteDeck VFR will not function normally, might not display the coverage and /or will give an error message about being outside the coverage. What is Preserved When Updating the App When Mobile FliteDeck VFR is updated from one version to another, the app preserves the following information: Customized Mobile FliteDeck VFR global settings under user control, including registration and account information Saved flights and trips Flight Logs Flight Tracks Downloaded coverages Managing Automatic App Updates Apple ios 7, and later, offers automatic background app updates. When a device is fully charged and connected to the Internet, it downloads and installs free app updates without requiring any interaction from the user. This feature might not always be desirable. Preventing Automatic App Updates To disable background app updates: Tap Settings from the ipad Home Screen. Tap itunes & App Store. Under Automatic Downloads, switch Apps to OFF. NOTE: Preventing the automatic update of the app does not impact the availability of reoccurring data updates to Mobile FliteDeck VFR. 4

Connectivity Considerations On the Ground Mobile FliteDeck VFR requires a reliable Wi-Fi or cellular internet connection to download updates. In the Air Mobile FliteDeck VFR requires LTE model ipads with a cellular unit in it to display the ownship symbol. Note, WiFi-only models do not include the built-in GPS receiver. While the ipad GPS receiver works well and provides good GPS accuracy, it might not be reliable in all flight decks while airborne. You can opt for an external GPS device to work with the ipad GPS receiver as a back-up. 5

What s New Mobile FliteDeck VFR 2.2.1 Flight Track Enhancements Export Flight Track as GPX file Mobile FliteDeck VFR version 2.2.1 allows to export recorded flight tracks as GPX files (GPS Exchange Format). To change the export format for recorded flight tracks please navigate to SETTINGS and FLIGHT TRACK. A new setting allows to switch between KML (default setting) and GPX. Current Flight Track in GoFlying mode Mobile FliteDeck VFR version 2.2.1 allows to show the current flight track in the GoFlying mode. The recorded track is shown as a green, semi-transparent, line and is only available for the currently performed flight. The flight track line in the GoFlying mode can be disabled and enabled at every time in the map overlays. To access these please extend the right widget in the GoFlying mode. Note: Flight recording continues in the background even the current flight track line is disabled. To disable flight track recording please navigate to SETTINGS / PREFERENCES / FLIGHT TRACK and disable flight tracks. 6

7

Review a recorded Flight Track Mobile FliteDeck VFR version 2.2.1 allows to review recorded flight tracks in the application. To access recorded flight tracks please navigate to SETTINGS and FLIGHT TRACK. Additional Flight Track details can be accessed by tapping on the line representing a single flight track. Tapping on a line in the FLIGHT TRACK listing opens a sub-view with details like start and end date, duration and distance, aircraft details and the departure and destination. The seamless map is fully integrated in this sub-view. The recorded flight track overlays the map for all zoom levels with a grey line. The flight track can be exported and shared with other pilots by tapping on the share button in the header line. 8

TMZ Transponder Codes are visible in the seamless map Mobile FliteDeck VFR version 2.2.1 shows the transponder codes for TMZs in the seamless map. Being available in the airspace pop-ups since the transponder codes were introduced early 2017, this new feature further improves safety and head-down time. 9
