Hi! Thank you for all your hard work to make the 7th annual Route 66 Car Show a huge success! We have heard many positivie comments from participants and from the public. Even the weather cooperated! In addition to our many club volunteers we had 17 AFROTC cadets from NAU help out with parking, traffice control, poker run, setting up vendors and many other tasks. This made for a smooth car show. Thanks again for your help! We couldn t do it without you! Dear Members, On October 13-16 2011, I am leading a road trip to California. During this trip we will be touring several of the best auto museums in southern California. I am including the details below, including the hotel information. It is important for you to book the hotel asap, but I think we will be good if you do this in the next two or three weeks, the hotel is rather large. The quickest we book the better chance that we will be together, but I leave that to you. October 13 we will depart Flagstaff at 7:30 am and head for Kingman, AZ. In Kingman we will stop for a quick breakfast at the Cracker Barrell, and then head for Barstow, Ca. We can either fill up in Kingmanor we will refill at the Lake Havasu exit before venturing into California. We will be saying at the BURBANK-MEDIA CENTER 150 East Angeleno Burbank, California 91502 Hotel Front Desk: 818-8414770 Hotel Fax: 818-5667880 October 14th We will leave the hotel at 8:30 am for our first stop: The Nethercutt Collection in Sylmar, California. The collection consists of some of the rarest cars from the turn of the century and early 1900 s. Each automobile is registered and street worthy. The collection has been represented by at least one car in each year since 1957 at the Pebble Beach Concourse d Elegance, winning best of show a record 18 times, including a 9 times in a 12 year period, 1998-2009. Along with the automobiles, the Nethercutt Collection boasts the worlds largest collection of hood ornaments, and music box collection that includes the 118 pipe organ that used to be in the Grand Fox Theater in San Francisco.. The museum also houses a Royal Canadien Locomotive, tender car, and custom coach car that travelled the rails at the turn of the century. On the evening of the 14th we will travel to the last Bob s Big Boy in the U.S. also located in Burbank California. Along with being the last it is the oldest, having opened in 1947. Each Friday night, they have a classic car cruise in. October 15th we will travel down the freeway and tur the Petersen Auto Museum. This museum houses many television and Film cars, including George Barris Batmobile, and the Munster s Coach car. Many of the vehicles are featured with background sets. October 16th, we will head home, but we will stop at the Wally Parks NHRA Museum at the L.A. Fairgrounds. I think this could really be a trip to remember and I know and promise you will see some cars for the first time, and never forget them. I myself went to the Nethercutt Museum for the first time in 1978, and have always wanted to return. The collection now is more than twice the size when I first went there. I hope you will consider joining me on this once in a lifetime trip. If you make reservations at the hotel, please drop me an email and let me know or call me at rt- 66galaxieboy@gmail.com or 928-607-3225. When making your reservation, please mention ROUTE 66 Car Club and tell them you have a AAA card for an added discount. Thank You, Robin Moore
Cinnebun Car Show July 30th, 2011 On July 30th there was a car show in downtown Flagstaff, south of the train tracks. Although no Route 66 cars officially entered, myself and Steve Hurt were there. Lots of Rat Rods and other cool cars were there, here s a few pics. Robin
