It is located on the bank of Danube. One of the most popular parks in Bratislava, is visited by children, teenagers, adults, older people or people who do sports every day. Slovak capital city is attractive for tourists who come to relax, to see historical sightseeing and for shopping. Of course, young foreign people arrive to study or to work in new offices built there. The largest Slovakian city is characterized by the most beautiful girls in the whole world- Slovaks, a lot of sights-museums, galleries, restaurants and bars, awesome fountains and statues. City is reconstructed and full of people. In night, city becomes one big area, where each facility has own original area full of people who are entertained by friends. All people are smiling and drinking drinks from Slovak cuisine or international cuisine. Spent evening in Bratislava is enchanting. HISTORY Nowadays, Bratislava is the crossroad of Prague, Vienna and Budapest. In history, Bratislava was the crossroad between the Amber route and the Danube route. This small big city has various history. It was home for Celts, Slavs, Slovakians, Hungarians, Croatians, Austrians, Germans or Czechs. Lots of people think that today s Slovakia still belongs to Czechoslovakia, but these 2 states were separated in 1.1.1993. Most people living in Bratislava liked that we are not part of Czechoslovakia, but you can find some who still want to be a part. Those people are people who are living away from Bratislava. Now, we have own government and own currency. Also, many people think that Slovenia and Slovakia is the same state, but no, that s not true. These 2 states are different from each other. OLD TOWN Old town consists of many historical sights that have to be visited. This is list of many of them. Slovak National Museum Slovak National Museum= Natural Science Museum is located at the riverbanks of Danube and next to Bratislava s port. In front of building is statue of lion. Building of this museum is similar to ancient temples, because an architect who designed this building was very interested in ancient temples. In museum, there are permanent exhibitions about animals, fungi or treasures. This museum belongs to one of the most important science museums in Europe. Gallery resides in very old building-residence from 1759. Permanent exhibitions occupied, here. There are: 16 th -18 th Century European Art, Gothic Art in Slovakia, Baroque Art in Slovakia and 19 th Century Art in Slovakia. Šafko how locals called it, is one of the most frequent ones. Universita Comeniana is located, here but also Starý most is starting, here so you can get to Petržalka by buses. Starý most is use only for bus transportation. In the middle of square is small park. MHD: Šafarikovo namesitie: buses: 50, 95 trams: 1, 2, 4, 5, 9, 13, 16 Šafárikovo námestie Hviezdoslavovo námestie Hviezdoslavovo námestie is one of Bratislava popular squares. This is nice place for meeting your friends, reading a book or just sitting and booze Slovak atmosphere. There are lots of high-classes restaurants, many embassies and variety of statues of Slovak significant people. There is small river, where people dunk their legs in summer. Start point at Hviezdoslavovo One of the statues River at Hviezdoslavovo Dóm sv.martina Dóm sv. Martina is located near Hviezdoslavovo námestie. During years 1563 and 1830, there were 19 kings crowned. Whole list of crowned kings is located inside of the Cathedral. It consists of 3 chapels: gothic Chapel of Žofia Barovská, Chapel of St. John Almužník and Chapel of St. Anne. Chapel of St. Anne and Chapel of Žofia Barovská were built in 15th century, Chapel of John Almužník was built during 1729-1732. Beethoven song Missa solemi was sang for a fist time, here. Cathedral burned down two times. It was 1st mentioned in 907 by name Pressalauspruch. In 1811, it burn down and in 1953, 1st reconstruction took a place. In 2008/2009 it was reconstructed for a 2nd time. Nowadays, there is a museum of historical collections of Slovakia. MHD: buses: 203, 207

Bratsilavský hrad during summer night Modrý kostolík Blue Church is very unique church. It s mainly, because all outside paintings of church are blue. It s not one of those big churches. It was consecrate St. Elisabeth of Hungary. This church belongs to one of the biggest attractions in Bratislava. MHD: Šafarikovo namesitie: buses: 50, 95 Trams: 1, 2, 4, 5, 9, 13, 16 RESTAURANT Modrý kostolík Pizza Mizza, the biggest pizza in Bratislava is tasty and delicious food at Šafarikovo namestie. HEART OF OLD TOWN Heart of Old town is consisting of areas located in the middle of Old town. Many tourists came to sit and look around. Primácialny Palác Primaciálne námestie is located between Hlavné námestie and Old Market Hall. Nowadays, Primaciálny palác is use as seat of city major, but also as Bratislava City Gallery. By visiting the gallery, you will see collection of Dutch and Flemish paintings from 17th century and Italian paintings from 16th and 17th century. Instead of gallery, there is Hall of Mirrors and St.Ladislav chapel. Chapel can be visit only during Sunday s service. In front of Primatial palace is well founded during reconstruction of palace in 1977. Renaissance fountain showing fight between St. George and dragon is in the middle of square. Connection between this square and Hlavné námestie is Kostolná ulica, the shortest street in Bratislava. MHD: it is located in pedestrian precinct, so every bus/trams which goes to Old town can be used Primaciálny palác Primaciálne námestie HLAVNÉ NÁMESTIE Hlavné námestie was used as Marktplatz many years ago. Today s, it is one frequent square in the middle of city. Roland fountain is label of Hlavné square. AT the top of fountain is Roland, a patron of city s rights. The oldest city hall in Slovakia is Stará Radnica, which is located on Hlavné námestie. Inside of city hall is Bratislava City Museum located. Opposite Stará Radnica is Poludai House, neobarocco palace built in 19th century. Nowadays, Caffe Maximilian is located, here. Bratislava City Museum Bratislava City Museum, the oldest museum in Bratislava is located at Hlavné námestie. The 1st exhibition was shown in 178. Museum consists of 2 buildings and town hall. You can see historical, numismatic, pharmaceutical, decorative arts, archeology, ethnography, sculpture and ironmongery science and technology. MHD: it is located in pedestrian precinct, so every bus/trams which goes to Old town can be used Kamenné námestie Kamenné námestie is one of the centers squares in Bratislava. This square is connection between Old City and other parts of BA. The 1 st high building Manderlák is built, here, The re is one big hzpermarket. The most trams are going, there. MHD: trams: Kamenné námestie: 2, 4, 9, 11, 16, 17 Kamenné námestie Námestie SNP SNP square is located between Obchodná ulica and Kamenné námestie. SNP means Slovak National Uprising. In history, SNP square has many events. The most-known is Nežná revolúcia. Nežná revolúcia was protest of many people against communism. All people from then Czechoslovakia achieved what they wanted- freedom and new chances. Large monument of this day - 17.11.1989- is in the middle of SNP square. 17.11.1989 is also National holiday. LYRA, is located between Michalská brána and Hlavné námesite.it is popular restaurant between tourists and locals, too. Cuisine is international, but also Slovak. MHD: it is located in pedestrian precinct, so every bus/trams which goes to Old town can be used RESTAURANT Café Maximilian, well-known cafeteria occupied mainly by tourists. It is popular because of chocolate, fuji water, shakes and other unique drinks. Prices are acceptable. OBCHODNA ULICA Obchodná ulica is 1 km long street full of shops, restaurants and bars. It belongs to lively streets in Bratislava. It is located next to the SNP námestie, Kollárovo námestie, Hodžovo námestie and Trinity Church. It contains 5 rooms with different workshops. People can attend each or one of these rooms. Weaving carving room, weaving room, pottery room, basket making room or tinker s room are workshops where you can make random product from chosen materials and learn techniques. It is served for all age categories. Grassalkovich palace was built in rococo style around 1760 for Anton Grassalkovich, a chairman of Hungarian chamber. Palace is not opened for people, only garden. Instead of Grassalkovich palace

and its garden, this square has a globe fountain in front of this palace. Location around the square is very lively, there are lots of crossroads and buildings. MHD: buses: Hodžovo námestie: 34, 83, 84, 93, 147, 203, 206, 207, 208, 212 Grassalkovich palace at Hodžovo námestie Trinity Church (= Church of Saint John of Matha and Saint Felix of Valois) This church which is located in Župné square is copy of St. Peters Church in Vienna. Trinity Church was built in 1727 that means it is built in baroque style. An altar of the Virgin Mary, a Baroque cupola, statues of St.Agnes and St. Catherine, massive main altar and main portal richly decorated in rococo style. Trinity church has been a cathedral for Military Ordinate of Slovak since 2003. AUPARK AND SURROUNDINGS Aupark and surroundings are located at the other side as Old Town. It is in Petržalka, in one of the biggest city parts. Aupark Aupark is one of those places, which are the most attended in Bratislava. People like Aupark, because there are lots of coffee shops, lots of restaurants, fast foods and shops. You can find there also bowling centre, fitness and cinema. It is located in Petržalka at the benches of river Danube. Arena Theatre Sad Janka Kráľa Arena Theatre is old building next to the Danube River. Arena belongs to the oldest theaters in Bratislava, a year of establishing is 1898. This building is very interesting as its history. After WW2 it was used as a store house for Slovak Television. Today s, it is property of Slovak well-known actor Juraj Kukura. Performances are mainly drama, but you can find also some musicals. RUZINOV Ružinov is near the centre of Bratislava. Many fountains and statues are located, here. Ružinov is presented as one of parts with more green vegetation as other parts of Bratislava. It can be also, because of 3 lakes in Ružinov. POLUS CITY CENTER Polus was the 1 st big shopping centre in Bratislava. It is opened from 2000/2001. This shopping centre is located near Lake Kuchajda and stadium Inter. There are lots of sport shops and denim shops. Casino is also part of Polus as well Palace Cinemas. Polus showed us something new, people can park at the roof of Polus for a first time. Kuchajda Samsung Arena or Ondrej Nepela Stadium This ice rink is called by Slovak legendary figure skater Ondrej Nepela. 14.12.1940 is date when the best known stadium in Bratislava was opened. This stadium was used for skating. Capacity of stadium was changed, but last one was 8350 seats and skybox and sky lounge. Through that time lots of reconstructions were done and also some championship were organized. Nowadays, stadium is reconstructacting for World Championship in ice-hockey in 2012.
