Meeting No 1964 Tuesday 3 rd October 2017 RI President Ian H.S. Riseley District Governor Don Ripper Assistant Governor Bill Degnan Club President Andrew Bradley PRESIDENT S COLUMN Last week we had the pleasure of hosting District Governor Don Ripper and his wife Jude. Don updated us on the situation with membership both worldwide and in our District as this is a key issue for Rotary International and our current International President, Ian Riseley. Whilst the statistics are a little grim, they are vindication for our club s decision to take a bit of an unorthodox approach for this year (and probably the next) to rejuvenate membership, both in terms of the enjoyment of new and existing members and obviously building our club numbers. To summarise, we are implementing a three step approach, 1. Improve the membership experience, 2. Communicate to our community about our club and our service projects and 3. Mentor and look after our new members to improve retention. At the current time, we are focusing on step 1 and I have to say that Catherine, Kerry and Ted are doing a great job in facilitating this. This week we have our own John Castle giving us a presentation on his recent Variety Club bash rally, I m sure it will be most entertaining. Partners are welcome but please let Secretary Andrew know if your partner is attending so we can arrange to have our meal outside the meeting room if numbers are too high. I look forward to seeing you all there. Keep our theme for this year in mind, Rotary: Making a Difference! Rotary Theme for 2017-2018: Rotary: Making a Difference. Kind Regards ANDREW BRADLEY President
Monday Tucker Supporters visit Sale Central At our meeting on 10 th. Oct. 2017, we will have the opportunity to meet and thank the many supporters of the Club's Monday Tucker program. President Andrew and Past President Michael Page have invited several of these people who have helped, in fact ensured, the survival of this program. They have provided financial and physical support, volunteer help and donations in kind over many years to allow our Club to continue to provide meals EVERY Monday night to those in genuine need. Please note the date in your diary; come along to the meeting and enjoy some fellowship with this great group of supporters and hear their stories. This will be a great opportunity for Sale Central to say a big thank you to this generous group. See you there, Cheers, PP Ted Pickering. Laing O Rourke staff from RAAF Base East Sale donating $832 to Andrew Bradley and Michael Page at Monday Tucker. The donation will go towards the Go Youth Camp!
