About Since it's inception in 2000, Adventure Works has grown to become the leader of it's field. We are well known in the MICE industry for providing awesome, professionally run adventure activities for corporate groups. While focused team building events and activities to add the WOW factor to incentive itineraries are our corner stone, many DMC's use us as their "go to" for anything from ground handling, transport, gala dinners and anything out of the ordinary. We are proud members of SITE (Society of Incentive Experts Intl), SAACI ( South African Association for the Conference Industry) and bonded members of SATSA (Southern Africa Tourism Services Association). We are covered by R20 million public liability insurance.
Our Track Record THE BEST OF THE BEST With 16 years worth of events to choose from, it's hard to narrow the best down to just a few, but the following are a selection of our most memorable. Wurth Incentive 3 x 500pax A Peninsula Amazing Race including Vintage Cars, Harley Davidsons, Side Cars, Power Boats, Kayaking, Drumming, Gumboot Dancing & Gourmet Taste Sensations en route. This event won a SITE CRYSTAL award. American Express Incentive 240 pax Delegates took part in an interactive African Experience in the vibrant Langa township. Local people taught them to drum, play a marimba, paint traditional designs onto a plate which was fired and delivered to their rooms the next day. The also learnt to gumboot dance and carry items on their head in the Xhosa tradition. This event won a SITE Crystal Award. Coca Cola Africa Annual Conference 700pax The group spent the morning refurbishing an underpriveliged school. They painted, cleaned, sanded and planted, then enjoyed a concert by the schools' thankful pupils. Our Track Record THE BEST OF THE BEST Takeda Pharmaceuticals 320pax Art Expression Event We took over the Westin Hotel Ballroom for an art extravaganza. Teams were given the brief to create a work of art depicting their understanding of the company's ethos. Amazing pieces were created with the best being flown back to Japan to hang in Head Office. Adidas Product Activation 35pax An action packed day of adventure to showcase Adidas' new Xterra outdoor gear range. Journalists, bloggers and the tweeterati were treated to quad biking, orienteering, a waterfall abseil, traverse, slack line and to top it all off, a Huey Helicopter ride back to Cape Town. Boston Group Optional Excursions This group of 5000 pax had a day of optional excursions in and around Cape Town. Adventure Works organised day tours and adventure activities for the delegates. SAFETY STANDARDS Our clients safety is our main priority. We provide trained life guards and first aiders on all excursions. BACK UP PLANS We keep a constant eye on the weather forecasts and conditions for each event, and will create back up plans when necessary to ensure the success and safety of your function.
Meet Our Team Barry and Barbara Futter are the founders and managing directors of the company. A Passion for the Outdoors and testing himself against all the natural elements is what lead Barry into the Tourism Industry. His primary hobby of riding the biggest waves he can find, took him to the Semi Finals of the Red Bull Big Wave Africa in 2008. He has run the 80km Puffer trail run from Cape Point to the Waterfront over the mountains and in 2013 he completed the gruelling 2400km, unassisted Freedom Challenge mountain bike event across South Africa. Barry studied Psychology, English Literature and Journalism at Rhodes University and currently sits on the board of SATSA (Southern African Tourism Services Assn Western Cape Charter) and SITE (Society of Incentive Travel Executives South Africa) and is also the chairman of the Cape Big Wave Trust. Not only does Barry have a huge knowledge of activities, venues, weather and logistics, he is also very experienced at organising large scale events. Barbs left her banking career in New Zealand to spend two years travelling in Europe. She then hopped on a truck in Cairo and travelled the length of Africa. The beauty of Cape Town and one ruggedly handsome South African man encouraged her to stay and 20 years later the Cape is still her home. Her great organisational skills have seen her successfully execute many large scale events with intricate logistics. In addition to lots of travelling, Barbs has rafted the Zambezi, tandem skydived, been shark cage diving, dived in the red sea, ridden on elephants and camels, climbed Mt Kilimanjaro and is now undertaking her toughest adventure yet raising two small children. You ll also find her in the office marketing, dealing with the finances and other non fun stuff.
