RER-02 - Extraordinary nourishment intervention on Emilia-Romagna coast with off-shore sand deposits 11 km in total by 8 critical coastal stretches in 8 Municipalities 1.2 Million m 3 of sand 20 M (financing 18.5 State / 1.5 Region) April - June 2016, on-going

Liguria-01 - Restoration of the littoral between Albenga and Ceriale, Savona Province (IT) Agreement Protocol signed 7 Municipalities and 1 Province involved Design and execution of the structural intervention It comprises nourishment with sands from off-shore deposits Feasibility study already in the Regional Plan

Catalunya-M01 - The XIOM: a regional coastal observatory for the Catalan coast XIOM - Xarxa d'instrumentació Oceanogràfica i Meteorològica XIOM first instruments deployed by the regional harbour authorities and the coastal management department. After 3 decades of activity this experience was stopped in 2012 (instruments retired). Now it is in development one integrated Observation system on wind field, wave features, currents, sea level, for the whole Catalan coast The XIOM network for oceanographic and coastal meteorological measurements will be owned by the Catalan government. Budget is estimated by 2,5 million (deployment and maintenance of the network) in 10 years. The start-up is to take place for about 4 years with an estimation of 1 million. Actors involved Central Administration: Barcelona and Tarragona Harbour Authority Regional Administration: Coastal Management Department, Regional Harbour Authorities, Catalan Meteorological Service Researchcenters: Maritime Engineering Laboratory( LIM/UPC) regarding network managament and coastal research.

Catalunya-M02 - Sustainable management and protection of the Tordera Delta coast 1956 2000 2013 Main goal of the project 1) restoring the integrated sediment dynamics 2) maintaining/enhancing natural values 3) promoting a sustainable development ACTORS INVOLVED Catalan Government: Dept of Territory and Sustainability Spanish Government: Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment (DGof Marine and Coastal Sustainability) Regional Administration: Water Agency of Catalonia LEVEL OF DESIGN Local Administrations: Municipalities Assessment on coastal conditions Local (economic) stakeholders: Camp and local economy Study to propose short-term solutions Technology Center: Catalan Administration ICGC to remediate/mitigate the degradation Research Center: Laboratori d Enginyeria Marítima, Measures compatible with natural dynamics Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya BarcelonaTech Studies on local spatial planning The Water Agency of Catalonia has delimited flood prone areas to implement the EC Floods Directive The ICGC acquired new data (aerial photos and Lidar)
