Utah State University Alumni Association Great Britain Tour June 26 July 5, 2018 (8 nights/10 days) Day 1 Tuesday, June 26, 2018 Departure via scheduled air service to London Day 2 Wednesday, June 27 London / Coventry (D) Arrive in London Meet your MCI Tour Manager, who will assist the group to the awaiting motorcoach for transfer to Coventry. Enroute visit Christchurch College at Oxford University, which is the largest college in one of the most prestigious universities in the world. With over 500 years of history and an introduction into modern popular culture Oxford University s Christchurch College means different things to different people Afternoon hotel check-in Evening dinner and overnight Coventry was once a bustling hub for the production of cloth, clocks, bicycles, automobiles and munitions. It was this last industry that drew the German Luftwaffe in WWII: on the night of 14 November 1940, the city was so badly blitzed that the Nazis coined a new verb, coventrieren, meaning 'to flatten'. A handful of medieval streets that escaped the bombers offer a glimpse of old Coventry. Day 3 Thursday, June 28 Coventry / Stratford (B,D) Full-day excursion to Stratford-upon-Avon Enjoy a guided tour of the Shakespeare properties. Start with the halftimbered house that is Shakespeare s Birthplace. The house itself is part museum and part shrine and is of course, the house where the bard was born in 1564. Then visit Anne Hathaway s Cottage. See the Hathaway bed in addition to the beautiful gardens, orchard and Shakespeare tree garden. Also visit Holy Trinity Church (American Festival Chorus will perform a short recital), which occupies a truly magical setting amongst some trees next to the river.
