The ice is off the river and we suffered some ice damage to a few docks, but nothing too major. April brings the actual birthday of LCYC on the 21 st. Work parties start up once again and we have a lot of clean-up to do this year so come down and help get your Club ready for the season. April 10 brings a 5-Club Social at MLYC at 7:00p. I hope to see some of our members there. Commodore s Ball was another great night with family, friends and members enjoying the evening. I can t thank the Ball Committee enough. They really hit it out of the park. Once again our members came through and made the night "golden". Our new web page is in motion and should be completed soon so check it out. Any questions? Feel free to contact me any time. Vice Commodore s Comments Bernie Keary Hi All ~ 50 years ago this April is the true birth of our Club. We will celebrate at the April monthly meeting with free pop and water, $1.00 beer, wine & shots, and $2.00 cocktails. Don't forget the bar will be open every Friday, except for Good Friday. What a great Commodore's Ball; especially the giant screens with all of the great memories. Rear Commodore s Comments Larry Schwenk Gayle Feldman Hi Everyone ~ The Ball was awesome!!! Now spring is really on its way. First clean-up work party will be April 18 and after the recent thaw we will have a lot to clean-up. I will be posting the adopt-a-garden sign-up sheet on the board. The Schaffer s have already picked their garden, but there is still plenty more to choose from. Hope to see you all around the Club now that the weather is breaking.
Fleet Captain s Comments Well the minor flood and ice has come and gone, and I suppose you are wondering why I didn t sound the alarm. The truth is everything happened at around 6:15a and the ice running down the river didn t wake me up until about 6:45a. So, simply put, it was basically over before I even knew it started. The damage seems not all that bad. We have a couple lifted docks, one severely bent one, a couple of decks moved around, a few water/power stations broken (not the ones along the main channel as you would expect) and some miscellaneous stuff out of place. If you get this in time and you dock in the B docks, try to find the time to gather your things back up before Open House on Sunday, March 22. Once we have power and water back on we can begin cleaning the docks and catwalks. Spring starts on schedule this weekend; I guess the rodent gets a reprieve! Treasurer s Comments No report. Sunshine Report The Sunshine Lady is on vacation and will have a two-month report next month. Entertainment Committee February s Dock Bidding had a nice turnout, but only 19 joined us for the Spaghetti Dinner that followed. P/C Tom and Rita Georgian and Stan Meeks did a great job. Our thanks to them. Just a reminder about the Lenten Dinner on Friday, March 27 at 7:00p. We hope you can make it. See the attached flyer. The menu for the April 17 event might get changed to a BBQ Spaghetti Dinner. More details will follow. The 101 people that attended the 2015 Commodore's Ball had a great time listening to the sounds of Sumrada. The food was great and the drinks flowed all night. This awesome 50th party could not have been accomplished without the willing help of the following members: P/C Brian and Debbie Zinner for loaning their personal collection of Regatta T-shirts. Lots of people taking pictures next to a specific T-shirt. Debbie Gudowicz for organizing and printing the programs and fun fact sheets. They looked awesome. Gretchen Bunnell for the beautiful centerpieces. They really set the room up for a classic "golden" look. P/C Dawn Brewer for the awesome PowerPoint presentation of pictures over the years. What a trip down memory lane for all of us. Brad Ronevich for the beautiful portrait pictures and the photo booth. Not to mention the many, many pictures he took during the night. Jackie Cover for covering the event for the historical books and the display in the Clubhouse Dale Cover P/C John Kromar Marilyn Shaffer Caren Kichinka & Tony Caputo Commodore s Ball Committee P/C Dawn Brewer; Bob & Laureen Dragolic; Ray and Carol Koeth And a big "thank you" to those numerous members who helped us clean-up and put away all of the decorations after the Ball ended. As with any event at our Club, only through the efforts of members like the above, can we have such a great event. 2015 Key Cards Please note that the Clubhouse door locks and the entrance gate at the bottom of the hill will be changed on Monday, April 6 (weather permitting). New key cards were handed out at the March General Membership meeting. If you didn t get yours yet, please see P/C John Kromar. If you are looking to purchase extra cards, please see Larry Schwenk. Additional cards are $5.00 each and can be purchased at the bar.
LCYC Blue Gavel Report 2014 Members of the year! The LCYC Blue Gavel awarded Bob Dragolic and Ray Koeth the high honor of Members of the Year for 2014 at the Commodore's Ball last month. Each year, the LCYC Past Commodores recognize a member(s) that went above and beyond in their service and support of the Club. The criteria is somewhat subjective as there are many Club members that step up and serve their Club. We consider all members, yet as we look at all the great contributions made, there always seems to be someone that just goes above and beyond what any of us would expect. Please congratulate Ray and Bob as they truly deserve a big thank you from all of us.
