Brighton College School Bus Timetable 2017/18

Brighton College School Bus Service Brighton College offers a comprehensive bus service for pupils in the Prep School* and Senior School aged eight upwards, providing services that operate to and from school Monday to Friday and comprise of seventeen routes. Our partners, Brighton & Hove Buses and Mercury Travel, manage six of these routes. Both companies have proved themselves reliable and flexible, tailoring their service to meet the needs of the College and parents. These transport providers use vehicles operated and maintained under current legislation. We also run two express routes for Weekly Boarders that run on Monday mornings and Friday evenings and one express route on Monday mornings from Claph SW17. All the buses have excellent maintenance records and vehicle breakdowns are very rare. All drivers carry mobile phones (though for safety they cannot answer these while driving) and regular drivers are used to ensure continuity; all qualified and DBS cleared. So that drivers know which stop to collect pupils from, the nes of the relevant pupils will be given to College drivers and our partnering bus companies. *Pupils in Years 4 and 5 in the Prep School must be accompanied by our Bus Monitors for the short walk from the College to and from Walpole Road. Pupils in years 6, 7 and 8 have the option to be accompanied by the Bus Monitors in the mornings and evenings for the short walk to and from the Prep School - parents will have an opportunity to opt in for this when completing the application form online. Bus Routes The current routes are set out on the following pages. Each route lists the location and stops available with scheduled pick up and drop off. We endeavour to adhere as closely as possible to this timetable, however, these may vary from time to time if unforeseen circumstances occur such as large volumes of traffic or roadworks.** Pupils are required to be at their bus stop five minutes before the published pick-up time in the mornings to ensure the bus arrives at College in time for registration. Buses will only wait until the time of departure for pupils to arrive. **We reserve the right to change the routes after publication, once seats have been allocated, to reflect a more efficient service.

Lost Property Policy Aim: To clarify the school s position regarding the care of personal items brought on to the school bus service by pupils and the procedures to be followed if personal items are lost. The school and its bus partners can accept no responsibility for loss or dage to the personal property of pupils. To minimise the possibility of property being lost: a) All pupils and their parents are required to make sure that all items of clothing and equient is labelled, where possible, so that lost property is returned to its owner as soon as possible. b) Pupils are required to make sure that all their personal property and any school property issued to them is kept safely on their person whilst they are travelling on school transport. c) If items are placed in the storage compartment beneath the coach, pupils must remember to collect when they arrive at College in the mornings and when they are dropped off in the evening. Any items left on any bus should be reported to the buses department or main reception. Any items found on our partner s buses (B&H & Mercury) will be placed on the bus for collection when the pupil next travels on that bus. Any items found on Brighton College mini buses will be stored in Lost Property, which is located in the basement of The Great Hall down the steps adjacent to the Yeoh building. The Brighton College Society brings parents together to foster a strong sense of community and aims to provide a forum in which they can have fun, meet other parents and interact with members of the Common Room in an informal way. During the next academic year, we will be hosting a variety of interesting and enjoyable events; from trips to the theatre, rbles on the South Downs, private wine tastings, and unique staff and governor-led excursions and events. You will be able to participate in a vast range of specialist subjects as diverse as music, science, history and politics. To view and book any of our events, visit www.brightoncollegesociety.co.uk or contact Sally Woodmansey, Director of the Brighton College Society for more information at enquiries@brightoncollegesociety.co.uk.
