Welcome Dear parents, We are committed to providing kids with a safe and positive experience as we nurture community, promote the Y s core values, and encourage the joy of being active! Camping, like many Y programs, is about learning skills, developing character and making friends. Few environments are as special as camp. Kids become a community as they learn how to be more independent and how to contribute to a group while engaging in physical, social and educational activities. Camping teaches self- reliance, a love for nature and the outdoors, and the development of attitudes and practices that build character and leadership. Y counselors are dedicated to making sure camp is an amazing experience for every camper. Yours in Camping, Shannon Neal Camp Director GOALS FOR OUR CAMPERS Make friends, have fun and enjoy being a kid. Experience new things and a variety of creative activities that will keep campers physically fit while spending time in the great outdoors. Experience a sense of pride in their actions, choices and projects. Experience opportunities to share and express their ideas with a group. Become a productive member of a group. Find their imagination. Be a part of something bigger then themselves. Develop relationships with adults that believe in them. Respect themselves, others and nature. Enjoy reading through storytelling, silent reading and reading aloud. Through participation in our swimming program, learn swimming skills and water safety. Take opportunities to make choices independently and with a group. Experience the camp spirit within themselves and enjoy sharing it with others. SUSSEX FAMILY YMCA CAMP OOWASSIS 2018 5
