Vacation Dates The University vacation is from Friday 16 March until Monday 16 April 2018. The Easter bank holiday takes place from Friday (Good Friday) 30 March until Monday (Easter Monday) 2 April. You may find many shops and services are closed on these days. HERE IS THE INFORMATION YOU MAY FIND USEFUL IF YOU ARE STAYING ON CAMPUS OVER THE EASTER VACATION. HAPPY HOLIDAYS! Access to college facilities and University Receptionists Reception porters will be on duty in all colleges as normal during the vacation period. On Campus East Langwith and Ron Cooke Hub receptions will be open 24 hours a day. All communal areas will be open, however, some of these areas may be used by the Conference Office please check with the specific reception for further details. Students living in off-campus University accommodation If you have any problems or questions during the vacation please contact Security (see below) or go to a college reception that is open. For details of reception opening times in all Colleges and departments please see www.york.ac.uk/campusservices/ portering/openinghrs.html Security Security staff will continue to patrol the campus 24 hours a day and will provide a response service to queries and emergencies. Non-emergency Requests If your college Porter is not be available over the Easter vacation, please use the phone (usually red) in your college foyer to contact the Duty Security Controller. Alternatively, dial 4444 from any internal telephone or 01904 32 4444 from a mobile. Emergency Requests If you have an emergency situation and need to contact Security please use the phone (usually red) in your college foyer to contact the Duty Security Controller. Alternatively, dial 3333 from any internal telephone, or 01904 32 3333 from a mobile, or 0800 32 3333 to make a freephone call from a payphone. Your call will be answered by the Duty Security Controller and your enquiry will be treated as an emergency. Always call Security on 3333 if emergency services such as police, ambulance or fire brigade are required on campus. Security will make the call on your behalf and ensure the correct area of campus is reached. Maintenance Non-emergencies If you require non-emergency maintenance in your university accommodation please report the issue to your College reception. Emergencies If you require emergency maintenance in your hall of residence, for example to fix a leak, please contact the Duty Security Controller by calling extension 3333 from any internal telephone or 01904 32 3333 from a mobile phone. Launderettes All launderettes on campus will be accessible during the vacation period and are open 24 hours a day. 4 Easter Programme 2018

IT Services Post IT Support Office will be open as usual throughout the vacation but will be closed from Friday 30 March to Monday 2 April and will reopen at 09:00 on Tuesday 3rd April. IT Services staff will continue to monitor IT systems to ensure that they are operating correctly. Paper will be topped up in all York Print Plus devices for students before Good Friday (30 March). The York Print plus devices in the Library will also be checked by Library staff over the Easter weekend. All services should be available as usual outside normal hours but access to IT rooms will be subject to college opening hours. If you have any IT queries please email itsupport@york.ac.uk. Library The Library will be open 24 hours a day over the Easter vacation. Over the Easter weekend the Helpdesk will be operating a self-service and will be open from 09.00 to 17.00 on Friday 30 March and Monday 2 April. On Saturday and Sunday, 31 March and 1 April, the Helpdesk will be open from 10.00 to 18.00. Staff will be available to answer general enquiries but not to offer any specialist support (see www.york.ac.uk/library/locations/service/ for more details). University Post Room Tel: 01904 32 2049 The University Post Room will be closed Good Friday and Easter Monday as will the YUSU shop and the new mailroom in the Piazza Building. The mailroom will be open on Thursday March 29th until 5pm and then reopen 8am on Tuesday 3rd April. This is the same for the Piazza as well. Across the Easter vacation the King s Manor Library will be open Monday to Friday only between 09.00 and 17.00. For full details of Library opening times over the Easter vacation please visit: www.york.ac.uk/ library/locations/service Medical facilities The University Health Centre is open Monday to Friday from 08:30 18.00. The Health Centre will be open as usual throughout the Easter vacation except for Friday 30 March and Monday 2 April. NOTE: The Health Centre will be moving from its current location on Heslington West to its new building on Kimberlow Hill, Heslington East from Monday 19th March. Easter Programme 2018 5

Medical emergencies In an emergency you can go directly to the A & E Department at York Hospital (open 24 hours a day, every day) or dial 999. The Duty Security Controller can telephone the Emergency Service(s) and inform them exactly where on campus the incident has taken place. For calls made off the University campus call 999 from any telephone. The call is free and the person taking your call will ask you some questions so that they can help you as much as possible. Market Square Information Centre / Switchboard The Information Centre is open as usual 24 hours a day, throughout the year. Parking/Security/Helpdesks/Unicard/Switchboard/ Accommodation desks will be open 8.30am to 5.30am Monday to Friday except Good Friday (30 Mar) and Easter Monday (2 Apr) when they will be closed. YUSU Shop The shop will be open as follows over the Easter Holiday period: Open 08:00 Monday to Friday ( weekends). Over the Easter bank holiday weekend, from Friday 30 March to Monday 2 April, the shop will be closed. We will be back open on the weekends starting the weekend of 14 and 15th April from 10am-3pm. Student Hub University Chaplains This includes, Immigration Advice Service, International Student Support, Student Advisers and Front of House provision for ODT, Disability Services and Student Services. The Student Hub will be open as normal apart from Friday 30 March and Monday 2 April when it will be closed. Usual opening hours during vacations are Monday to Friday 10:00. The Open Door and Disability Team The Open Door and Disability Team will be working as usual from Monday to Friday 10:00 until except for Friday 30 March and Monday 2 April when it will be closed. If students require help when the Open Door Team is unavailable please contact NHS 111 for health advice and information on 111 from any landline or mobile phone (free of charge).
