The downside to this is that there is not as much to do in the evenings/weekend directly in the area. You may want a car with this option if you want to explore the city a little. We have a train/subway and bus system (MARTA), but it s not convenient to many tourist/sight-seeing areas. TRANSPORTATION There are a few options for transportation while you re here. Fortunately, the airport is only approximately 20 minutes south of downtown Atlanta, where SafeCare training will occur. AIRPORT SHUTTLES Many of the hotels in the Atlanta area participate in complimentary shuttle service to and from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). These shuttles can be found outside of the airport on the PURPLE ISLE at the west end of the domestic terminals at the west curb in the Ground Transportation Center (between the Domestic North and South Terminals). However, to be safe always check with your hotel during the reservation process. PUBLIC TRANSPORATION The local public transportation system in Atlanta is operated by The Metropolitan Transit Authority, affectionately known as MARTA, and consists of buses and trains or rails. Keep in mind that all riders will pay for transit using the MARTA Breeze Card that you will load with trip fare. These can be purchased at MARTA station kiosks which are also conveniently located in the airport. Trains and buses depart and arrive directly at the Atlanta airport. Trips on the trains are $2.50 per ride. The MARTA train station nearest to the SafeCare training is Five Points Station.
